I was about to install my new Nitrons when I noticed that some of the spacers (shown in attached photo) didn't slide into the eye.

It appears that three out of twelve spacers have a diameter small enough to let them slide in without any force at all. The other nine spacers have a different diameter, 0.02mm larger than the diameter of the eye's hole. These can probably be press fitted using a vise but what happens the day I want to remove them? I don't want to risk damaging the dampers.

Seriously Lotus, from whom I bought the dampers, have never heard of this before and say they always slide in easily.

So my question is, should these slide in easily, or has Nitron changed the design? Perhaps I have got a mix of old and new spacers?

Cheers

I had the same issue. I used a vice or a small knock with a hammer to fit them.

In my case I could get them out (from the other side) with a screwdriver and hammer to tap them out. Simples.

I was under the impression they came in 2 different sizes, when I changed from the 46's to 40's I had to change the spacers.

I'd ring Nitron to clarify.

OK, that sounds good :) And now when I'm fully awake I realise that I only need eight spacers but got twelve...

Now I'm even more awake and in the garage again, and realise that 12 spacers are needed after all :D Instead I'm missing two o-rings...

(2 rear shocks x 2 eyelets x 2 spacers) + (2 front shocks x 1 eyelet x 2 spacers) = 12 The fronts have the 4 upper spacers already installed from factory

the fronts can on some have two extra outboard spacers at the top bolt, these need to be fitted so the large diameter surface faces the shock, not the chassis

I would say those are the wide spacers that come with the wider nitron brackets.
Thinner spacers fit the oem brackets.
