Brought my second hand miltek exhaust for my sc stage 2 a few months back all though it Sounds great its definitely to loud for track it has been opened up in the past and 'repacked' in the past if I open it up again is it just a case of filling it as full as possibe with the acoustic packing or am I better off looking at other options and does anyone have any pics of the internals and we're I need to pack thanks

I have a miltec that was openEd up but sorry no pics.

Its obvious where to pack once you open it, get high temp acoustifil and get extra welding done on the baffles while its open as they fail.

you could try packing it with them steel scouring pads which the mrs buys.. Nev mentioned this somewhere and it might actually be worth a try.

you can get the proper stuff on ebay iirc

The Turbo Miltek (2.5" straight through) muffler is different than the NA version (baffled, smaller diameter).

You ahve an SC, so invest in some high temp wadding. (Acoustafill ZT1 stuff, Ebay. Or stainless scouring pads)

rather than scouring pads i have a thin layer of wire wool around the perforated tube which does definitely help keep the wadding in

I'm always worried about using wire wool in a silencer. When I was at school, I fabricated a silencer from scratch in out metal work shop. Not having the permission to use the gas welding equipment I had to leave that up to the metal work teacher. Some time later I passed him in the corridor minus some of his eye brows....'what the hell was in that silencer...the fire ball nearly took my face off!' So heat, a bit of oxygen, and thin steel wool... combustion... Thermic lance style. Needless to say he did not do any more welding for me.

On my Turbo Stage 2-3  I must repack the Miltek VXR Silencer every 2 years (10000miles no trackdays), even with the acoustafill ZT.

With the acoustafill half of the stuffing is left over after two years, the cheaper ones are complete gone.

Inside the Miltek VXR-silencer is only a perforated  S-Type tube.

Picture uploading doesn´t work for me, the software says  "The Server returned a error during upload"

Does anyone have a video of before and after packing? Just curious about the sound difference.

I have posted a few videos, take a look on my exhaust build website.

In short, when I heavily wrapped my perforated pipes I got a 2 dB reduction (C filter), however due to the different way my exhaust flows to a Miltek, you can expect less of a dB attenuation.
