Thanks Lee.

I have put a deposit down on a green vx220 with a forged supercharged NA with good track mods.

My plan is to loose as much weight as possible from it, build a super short gearbox for it and pop a haroop supercharger on it when I've got track confident....seems you may be a good person to speak to at some point!

The car seems a good base to make it into a good track car, the biggest upgrades however will come from some seat time as im used to mx5's and Westfield's so no doubt will take some  getting used to!

Wow, that thing must be fast as hell upto about 120 and it has a sequential gearbox no doubt :)

I have absolutely no idea about westfield prices with bike engine conversions.

Is it loud?

Yeah its a very sharp machine but its at the limiter in top at circa 120-125, its actually reasonably easy to drive just using revs up to 8k with the rotrex fitted and then can enter beast mode up to 12k when needed.

Going half's would make a lot of sense...these projects always end up costing more!

It is loud but has a big track friendly exhaust so is ok fro trackdays.

Correct yes.

I did have a full windscreen to put on it but that adds weight and wind resistance so would make it slower hence it got sold!

If you are going to Harrop it i wouldn't bother putting a 4.17 gearbox on it gearing is to low stay with standard f23 gearbox  i no i had 4.17 in mine .

just drop me a pm if you want a chat or anything  good luck  ;)

Thanks Lee, My plan was to build a box using a 4.4 and a Quaife to put in, I worked out that with the current 17" wheels at the rear it would give an optimum speed of 145mph at 7k. (Still abit short as I'll never get up there on the tracks local to me) I'm interested as to why you wouldn't get on with a shorter final drive because of more power? The idea is to make the car as light and fun as possible upgrading the power when I get abit more confidence as I go. Dan

There isn't a reduction gear like on the Honda s2000's is there? Meaning all my maths is along way off!!

Haggi has a 4.17 with a Harrop, he loves it. Owner preference I guess thumbsup

Personally I have the same ratios as a 4.85 F23 and would not change it for anything else :P

I just found that   i  tended to change gear more on track  1st gear was over very quick on pull of .as i increased the power it just pulled so well through the gears i changed the 4.17 gearbox back to standard  and  it drives better all my opinion .

I have a diff in mine well worth doing you can feel the difference around  and out of corners .

Thanks Lee & Vocky, seems its is personal preference.

What is gained in acceleration is probably lost in gear changes but it should make for a more 'exciting drive' which is where I'd like to go with the project (even if it does sacrifice a few tenths on the lap times.)

Do you mind  me asking what diff you put in Lee?

There is obviously the quaife available, is there any plated ones available, Kaaz? Gripper?
