I've removed my lenses today to refurb the lights. But I didn't mark the lamp unit for refitment, having said that one was touching the clam anyway. Think they have both been off before. Is the a knack to refitment ? I'm also considering painting them black whilst the lenses are off?

Use the Lotus headlight seal from EliseParts. It makes replacement a doddle. 👍

It is more the correct alignment of the lenses to the body that I'm concerned about. There are quite a few comments that the eliseparts butyl tape is too think. I'm guessing this maybe the 3M Direct glaze adhesive strip, which I have access to a lot of!

I wondered if there are any markers or guides on the light body that can be used as reference?

Not that I am aware of. But the threads above explain how others have approached the alignment issue.

I replaced all my lenses last spring, and after worrying about all of the ways to align the lenses I realised that each lens fits onto the light fixture slightly differently, and each light fixture fits into the clam slightly differently - so it's really about feel and making sure you're not prying the lenses off when you tighten them to the clam! I can also tell you all about my adventures re-sealing the lenses!

I'm happy to make the trip to Burntwood to assist if you'd like?
