Project 2003 VXT, one owner, 28,500 miles, GT03 VXT, no accident damage;  £6,150

After several months of working through the options, I have decided to sell my car as an on-going project, still requiring quite a bit of work to complete. It is a 2003 VX220 Turbo, one owner car. I am selling for £6,150.

The car is original and has had no accident damage. It needs a front clam and a few other parts to complete. Some pictures of the car taken at the weekend;

I started splitting the car several years ago, selling off the higher value items to raise some much needed cash at the time (2-way Nitrons, Corbeau seats, motorsport rear wing, diffuser, ECU with Stage 2 map, Milltek exhaust, front clam, lights).

The car has only been owned by me (purchased new in May 2003). It was last on the road in 2012. The last MOT was done in June 2011 with mileage recorded at 27,721 miles. The current mileage will be around 28,500 miles.

The reg. no. is GT03 VXT. Chassis number ending 6640. Other than Lotus 4 bolt hubs & Speedline Turini wheels, the lower rear clam vents and Lotus factory fitter Elise Sport 190 harness bar, it is currently standard spec. It has had no accident damage and all the parts on the car are original.

Parts required to complete the rebuild:

- front clam

- turbo vents

- exhaust back box

- turbo ecu

- seat belts or harnesses (already has Lotus harness bar fitted)

- interior mats

- driver side door panel

- rearmost undertray (where after market diffusers fit)

- brake discs and pads (S2 Elise 4 bolt pattern)

It has been off the road since 2012, so will also need;

- tyres (currently has A048R LTS tyres, but getting on for 10 years old)

- new clutch & flywheel

- cam belt and water pump replacement

- pair of side engine mounts

- new battery

- oil, plugs, filter, etc.

The gearbox has been removed in preparation for fitting a new clutch and flywheel. The engine ancillaries - OE turbo, inlet manifold & throttle body, exhaust (pre-cat and main cat sections), alternator and starter motor - have been removed and stored in boxes.

I have a full set of lights (pax front is original, driver front is replacement from Fezzasus and rears are NA replacements).

The rear clam has quite a bit of frost damage and requires a lot of prep before painting. The paint on the rest of the car is in good conditions (Calypso Red) other than a bit of frost damage on the lower front of the doors. (The rear lights are only loosely fitted and taped in place to keep water out of the boot).

I have spent quite a bit sourcing parts during the last 2 years to replace items I sold a while ago. Approx. £2,000 spent on;

- replacement wishbones (new from Eliseparts)

- new air box and filter (OE VXT)

- replacement front headlight and rear lights

- beige leather seats (from NA to replace Corbeau seats I sold a while ago)

- engine loom and gear cables

- turbo footrest (new from Lotus)

- rear spoiler (new from Lotus, in primer)

I had budgeted £4k to source the replacement parts (clam and vents from Jonnyboy), buy the service items (tyres, brakes, clutch, etc.) and paint the clams. I was planning to get it back on the road, run for a year or so and either advertise for sale as a one owner, sub-30,000 mile car or trade-in against an Evora.

It is a difficult car to value as is, but looking at the sale price of written off turbos through the auctions (around £5,500 - £6,500, most with damage to clams, crash box, head lights and often suspension damage) I think £6,150 is a fair price. I have taken into the account the work required to get the car back on the road and offset against the potential resale value due to the single owner, low mileage and zero accident status compared with a repaired Cat listed car sourced at auction.

I purchased a new car loom from the Lotus motorsport auction as a spare and will include in the sale for a purchase at or close to the asking price.

I also have a full set of brand new Lotus Exige alloys (silver multi spoke, still boxed following purchase from Lotus) which I an planning to advertise once the car is sold. I will sell these with the car for an additional £400.

Happy to answer any further questions or email additional photos. Contact me via pm or email garyk220 at hotmail dot co dot uk and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Regards,

Gary
