Needed to do some work on the under tray and new diffuser to clear the 3" Tullet.

Before cleaning and cutting

Cleaned and cut to shape. Note the extra fixings.

Going to have to get some alloy spacers made up but this was good enough to get the car out to North Weald yesterday.

Finally fitted

My car wasn't meant to have balance shafts so this was a bit of a surprise....

While everything was apart changed the clutch and had the TTV flywheel re-machined.

I'm sure you can figure out why.....

I know it's confusing (as your car has the name VXR), but it has a standard Z20LET in it (as opposed to a Z20LEH). Hence why your engine had balance shafts, no oil squirters and has cast pistons.

HTH.

Did you notice the engine was more peppy to rev up without the counterweights?

Does go well your car. Still puffs well at high rpm which I find some vxt's tend to run out

Marginally but I made too many changes at once to attribute it to one thing. I think the new intake has made the biggest difference. As Joe says the car definitely doesn't run out of steam. Before it was very poor mid throttle and was horrible to feather the throttle. And it used to noticibly drop in power from 5.5-6k onwards. Now the car no longer feels on/off, is happy being feathered, no more turbo flutter and it's still pulling hard at 7k. All in all the changes have been will worth it. I believe the ATB has made a nice difference to but I didn't have much chance to try the handling before putting it in the car. Might have to do a power run on a RR and get on a weigh bridge just to bench mark where I'm at.

In reply to your earlier thing Nev, the vxr220 was still on the LET. Had a different turbo and map to get the extra 20HP. God knows how the poor turbo manages to make mine go as well as it does. Not sure I'm going to chase big HP after the handing day.....

Glad to hear all the hard work has been worth it.

By your last sentence, do you mean you think the geometry + coilovers might need adjusting? I wouldn't be surprised if it was messed up badly by previous owners.

Was set up and corner weighed by cornering force with their ARBs and 2 way nitrons by last owner. Geo seems sensible to me. I've removed the rear ARB and softened rear shocks a touch to experiment. Not chasing big HP was more a reference to it already being F'in fast. I'm sure I'll get used to it and want more...... But then I'll be in eating gearbox and clutch territory...

The new one which is a helix is much better than the warped unbranded 6 paddle that was in it. The bite is more progressive and makes it nicer on the road. On the handling day it got some stick and I had zero slip as I would expect. I would have one again.

It's a VXR LEH. Never been near a vx220. Planning to get all the bits ready to go for a winter build.

Hardly Nev, will have less ponies and skinnier tires. Nipper and DHs car are both inspiration, not competition.
