From Bedford Autodrome to My Garage. Or "The itch in my brain". 15 years ago I was fortunate enough to try my hand at track driving as a guest of Jonathan Palmer at Bedford Autodrome. It was an amazing day driving some fantastic cars but two driving sessions stuck in my mind as experiences I will never forget. The first was in an Exige and the second in the VX220. The Exige was a high speed run and the VX a handling run but both had a poise and delicacy the other cars lacked, leaving me with trembling hands, wide eyes and jabbering like a fool. Fast forward 15 years and that itch in my brain has finally gone and R2VXT now lives with me. Arriving to look at the car, I was pretty nervous and prepared to be dissapointed. "Needs a bit of paint. Big miles" said the voice in my head but the seller showed me around, pointing out the cars issue's and in fairness, they were not too bad and are all fixable. The test drive would be the clincher then. Surely the high miles would show in the way it drove. They didn't. It's an involving drive. You concentrate, don't listen to the radio, avoid pot holes frighten old ladies on the overrun, grin. The trip back with my son was hilarious. I kept reminding myself "You don't know the car yet, so take it easy". We had 110 miles to travel. The trip round the M25 was completed at an average of 55mph, ears bleeding, looking out of the side windows at a procession of lorry wheelnuts and Nissan Micras whizzing past, waiting for a reason to call the RAC. Just the M3/M27/A31 to go. There must be an equation relating to distance from home Vs speed as by the A31 we were busy playing with Evo's and Porsche's. Juvenile I know but I didn't buy it to go shopping. Now it's mine and I've had a chance to explore some of it's potential I'm not dissapointed. It's been worth the wait. My names Jon. Nice to meet you all.

I'm too scared Batman. I own this one and if I break it the Mrs won't give me any more pocket money.

I think I saw some opposite lock going on tbh  Get that V painted, otherwise looked the dogs. Gotta be around 7-10 of us in the Bournemouth area now, tho that's the first one I've seen in a few months.

I was hoping to slip unnoticed into Ferndown Rudy. I know what you mean though. Pretty rare to see a VX even on a sunny day. Don't know about opposite lock though. Still tiptoeing about at the moment.
