I've done a few track days in various cars but never in my VX. Before I do, I'd like to learn the characteristics of my car and my capabilities a little better and think this could be a good starter... I've joined Lotus on track and looking at booking this, looks like fun in a safe environment! Based in Essex and only £40 (plus Lotus on track membership if you're not a member). So its not going to break the bank. Anyone else fancy this? Don't want to be the only VX'er there with a bunch of Lotus's

Not done one but been there for the training day. You can introduce those lotus owners to the concept of torque lol.

Done that 3 times. First time was a useful and fun day, 2nd time was so my daughter could learn more skills and was useful again and fun, third was a total disaster.

The problem is that theyre not that good at cleaning up the area after its used for a market, and on that day there were loads of bits scattered all over the place that hit cars but  Bargi on here got an 'aerial' shoved through his tyre.

We decide we wouldn't do it again.

Try an airfield track day as they too can be great for learning on without risk of hitting Armco, gravel traps etc.

I never saw a coat hanger last time I was there. Done this a few times and it's really good, does kill tyres a bit Also my miss's manages to scrape the front splitter on one particular place everytime.

I did the full training day when I got my VX with a mate from work who had just got an Elise. Was really good and while I didnt learn too much new theory, the chance to put everything into practice with no risk and getting pointers from someone knowledgeable was great. Learnt alot and made my road and track driving much better. No issue with debris on the day I went.

Cant recommend it enough!

I'm on this too! Not had my Europa long, so will be tapping you lot up for performance and reliability tips on that VX engine, but really impressed with it so far.

I'll second that... Great to put my new VXT through its paces today. Really happy with the car. Whilst Joe was only 2 seconds off the McLaren, I was only 2.4 seconds of Joe so happy with that! :) Loads of fun and great to meet a few new people! :D

Think I was 2 seconds behind mark.... First time out so I'll be content. Fun link to a lovely Europa S getting it a little wrong. https://youtu.be/weAzKJGvzYU

I was probably slower than the burger van. Dunno, I did 71's which I think was similar to Mark.

Great fun..  I was surprised how bumpy it was. Especially when I did 1 run with my door half open.

Thanks Simon! That was me in the Europa, a fun day but I did spend a bit too much time facing in the opposite direction 😁
