I spoke to the guy at PLANS before I got the car and he seemed a little snooty , maybe as I don't have loads of money and a expensive car , when you say take jez some jaffas do they have to be McVity or do other brands work as well

In all honesty unless you have absolutely no mechanical skills whatsoever you're better off working on the VX yourself. I've learnt a huge amount and know every single part of the car has been done properly.
I know it's not for everyone but they're very enjoyable and fun to work on, there are a few very helpful people on this forum and guides to do nearly every job.

Every time I have approached my VX with a spanner...... a nut has rounded or a rivnut has failed and other such events !
If its a daily driver id give it to someone who knows
if its a toy and you have the storage space then give it a go
there are so many good people on here who will offer advice or come and assist you if you get stuck.
I wish I had the confidence
even when I have taken the car to the workshop and asked if i could do the work the guys laugh but let me play and then they come to the rescue
Fitting the Fez heater was a drama at one point I had screen wash constantly squirting out !
Thank heavens for professionals
