spotted this new 'old stock' z22se engine on ebay, it's a bit hidden by it's description.

Appears to be a brand new z22se engine, with zero miles. Quite cheap at the minute too thumbsup

Usual ebay disclaimer: Nothing to do with me

As a matter of interest what would a full engine rebuild cost these days. Assuming the starting point was a 100k unit and was to be built to a standard spec. A ball park figure would be fine - not one that you would be committed to. I am just trying to establish  a sensible value. Thanks

to fully recondition a z22se to 'as new' would cost something between £1000 and £1500

new water pump, oil pump, bearings, oil seals, head gasket, head bolts, cams, valve springs, valve stem oil seals, valve guides, cam cover gasket, hydraulic lifters, roller rockers, etc

Add to that a rebore and labour to strip and build it.

Most people just go for a rebore and new pistons, which works out much cheaper. The cranks and crank bearings tend to last a long time. Even at 120k they have few signs of wear.

Guessing it'll have the small oil jet then? As mines done just over 90k and the last 3k has been with me on track and it was last measured at 118whp, I should probably put a new one in at some point :D

Very tempting......

Is there a chance that the "damaged" tag refers to something more serious though??

Looks very clean otherwise!

It will be very old though won't it. 15 years at least?

Might be ok, might not.

What would ballpark cost for that ^ be?

depends what pistons were used, standard style z22se (over sized) 86.5mm pistons are not that common

wiseco are probably the cheapest at $600 + shipping + import duties

And what sort of labour is required for a 'bare minimum' rebuild? E.g if my oil consumption got worse over teh next few years and I wanted to fix it?
