I've been using ZZRs at about 29f 30r hot pressures. Got a shiny new set of R888Rs for the first race although the first time I'll use them is qualifying. What pressure shall I aim for for those? I start at about 24psi on the ZZRs to get them to about that temp.

Depending on what circuit 21/25 cold, dont let the rears go even a fraction above 30. Start off slightly lower at Rockingham certainly. You want to aim for around 25/29 hot. Are you going to shave them?

Its Donington a week on Saturday.

I wasn't planning on getting them shaved or where I could even get that done in the North :/

It'll be interesting to see how they compare. I've only gone for them because toyo are providing them direct to me.

30 hot was always the mantra for 888s, 24 was always a starting point on a typical English summer's day, 0.5 higher on the O/S (except Rockingham ;))

Those Toyo R888s are meant to work at 55 degrees Centigrade apparently. I rang them up to find out when I used to use them.

The R is quite different to the old tyre. Different sidewall, different compound, different construction. Toyo recommend between 70 and 120. Take your pick

This has been linked to before I'm sure. It relates to the older model and states a temperature range of 71 to 105. For the R Toyo say the top limit is increased to 120 https://www.toyo.co....r/set-up-advice

Holy sh*t, 105 degrees centigrade is properly hot!
