What a day! Never fretted about which tyres to run so much in my life. Thankfully got it right!

Qualifying was 15 minutes and was sort of wet. So I didn't know wetter to use the wets as it wasn't that wet really. Decided I would as it was only 15 minutes worst case and I could make it up in the race.

The rain then got heavier so I made the right choice.

15 minutes only equals 6 laps so we went out and by the end of the straught was getting frustrated with people fannying about. Got passed but didn't get a single clean lap and the last 2 laps had 2 yellow flags on so held me back slightly. So P11.

A 4 hour wait for the race with more rain and then no rain with more due. Spent ages looking at my tyres and then at the circuit trying to decide. We have Max Coates advising us so spoke to him and he thought what I thought so I put the R888Rs on. The track still looked wet but the spray was minimal. One guy bottled it and put his wets on before we went out onto the track.

Left the assembly area onto the track though and it wasn't just a dry line, the whole thing at the Melbourne loop was dry. Right choice! It stayed dry for the whole race too apart from turn 1 which never dried and was very slippy.

We do 45 mins and a green flag lap this year, 45 mins feels like a long time!

Good start but no space to get through and an integra came up the inside, got it back at the first corner though.

Battled for the first few laps with a SC mini, finally got passed and pulled away slightly, then disaster, the car cut out with just the battery light showing as I was braking for mcleans. Something instantly made me thing it was the ignition and it was, my knee had knocked it and turned it off! Flicked it back and on hit the starter then carried on (should have just bump started it!)

The mini was just coming passed (I hadn't scrubbed much speed in all this) so I put my foot down and we went in 2 abreast at the next corner.

Just having some food now so I'll explain more later.

From looking at that video you can get quite a bit of weight out by putting in Lexan side windows, junking all the window mech, cutting the doors down, removing the interior door handles and rods and putting a wire in for opening the doors.

Yeah it's something on my to-do list. I'm only at 125hp/ton and can go up to 140.

May order some window's this week.

Video from the cream mini I had a fair few battles with.

Interesting points that I'm in:

2.40 Overtake around the outside down Craner curves 4.30 Overtake around the outside of turn 1 11.05 When he catches me because ive turned the ignition off to let him catch up 12.25 2 abreast into Craner 32.20 I get back passed for the final time

It's 11 minutes in that the engine turned off. Felt like a lifetime in the car.

45 minutes is a long time scrapping. Its not the same but 30 minutes in a kart the other week and I was looking forward to getting out (but then I a an old geezer and not a Royal Marine!).

Great results.
