My lights have been fogging up and one side had a far amount of water. Took the lights off and resealed around the lens ,even though it looked ok. Used hair dryer to remove all water moisture for inside lights. blocked up ever hole I could find , even the lower two holes that didn't have caps. Reinstalled the lights and as I started I could see they were starting to mist up. Took back into house and used hair dryer again to remove misting and by the morning the fogging is back just the area around the full beam. Any thoughts how to sort this. Is it because there is no air low, have thought adding some micro fans. Not sure why there are two holes under the lights should these be sealed?

I did mine last week but i removed the front casing entirely, removed the old sealant and completely resealed them, i then covered all the holes and not had a single bit of condensation since 😁

Don't bin them! If they still work there is value in keeping or at least selling them. Criminal to bin working VX parts like these.

Do you not need a vent hole to help prevent fogging up?

Maybe hasn't helped removing the light taking indoors and blowing hot air in via a hair dryer then putting back in the cold on the car? The only real way of curing is removing the lenses and resealing using the Elise parts butyl tape

The lights have small vent hole with a tube attached. Or at least they did when new!

You can see the vent hole and vertical tube in the left in this pic

Going to try and cut the bolt and use a coupler, would it be best to take the wheel off and remove the lining at get to it that way?

Yes, you will have a better view of the nut with the wheel and lining off. Access should then look like:

Just as long as you can save half an inch or so at the end of the thread it's good enough. Stuff the bad section with washers.

Good luck with it http://www.vx220.org...supgraemlin.gif

Hair dryer wont really help. several days in the airing cupboard to get them properly dried out -preferably face down. Then it's just lots of sealing, I removed one of the rear caps to allow air to flow and have had no problem since. However the Elise parts butyl tape didn't work for me, it simply got warm and separated.

Elise parts butyl tape What is that. Just checked and lights are now full of water so it must be a problem with the seal. So do people use the oven to remove the lens or just heat gun?

You may not need heat to remove the lenses, sometimes just running round it carefully with a pallet knife works. If not advise oven, however heat gently and check regularly. Don't use a heat gun, too aggressive and easy to burn the lenses or unit. Also won't get the heat across the whole edge of the lenses.

Converted them into LED fog lights using the old casings, and lenses.
