Nice! I have just gone the other way and will be picking my Insignia Estate up tomorrow. It will double as a Dad Wagon and a Tow car for the Caterham :)

Modern cars are just so much more all round capable, powerfull and safe these days it's amazing. I still remember when I had a Talbot Horizon with 45 BHP that wandered down the road like I was drunk at the wheel and the engine screaming at max revs just to get up a 1 in 5 hill in second gear.

I've not driven a modern Golf, but I bet they go like stink.

It's a pretty amazing car, 300+ bhp, 4 wheel drive and it is not harsh or crashy to drive, the ride isn't hard and uncomfortable. It's just very very fast. And it just looks like a standard Golf for the most part

That's what I fancy next to replace the A6.

What I really need actually is a Passat R, because as I'm getting older I'm thinking of towing the exige and vx around rather than drive them

(so it will probably be a 340i)

Also, does it have leather?

Why does no one spec leather in Golf Rs

Leather is an expensive option, and is a daft material to line car seats with

Weapon!

Great deals too with the new model about to arrive.

I tested one back to back with the GTI and the pace was probably more than the M135i because it was able to launch better with no traction issues.

Plumped for the GTI though because my budget was a 14 R with no nav or DAB etc or a 16 GTI with the later spec.

Enjoy!

:yeahthat:

Bit of on old man option IMO, plus it takes a decent bit of looking after to stop it from degrading so too much hassle for me. I purposely looked for a car without the leather option because of this.

leather seats are awesome and dont require any looking after, my last car was 11 years old and still looked brand new and i never used any cleaner on them! A hell of a lot easier to clean when something is spilled aswell

The only reason people dont spec it is money not because of cleaning

Each to their own I suppose but I would never spec leather and it has nothing to do with cost. I could have got leather in my current car for zero cost and I purposely paid more for one without. It just looks so old hat Imo.
