Hello All

I have a second hand ECU which has been reset, I have op-com but am struggling to re-programme the security pin code. Don't suppose there's anyone out there who has cloned an ECU who would be willing to provide a little guidance for beer tokens?

Thanks

Wile

What's the struggle?

You're in the secured part with your code?

It's somewhere under the "program immobiliser function"...

I've used the program immobiliser function and with the correct security pin code and it tells me it has been successful. You then exit the software, unplug and turn the key and all the lights come on but engine doesn't turn over, just completely dead.

Before the pre-start noises used to be the fuel pump priming, which it still does but is now continuous and goes on until you turn the key back from the ignition position.

Did you check for any fault codes and if the immobiliser is programmed? (under ECU measuring blocks)

Mine's the same. I eventually got the 4 digit immobiliser code for mine using a Polish mobile locksmith, who rang his mate in Poland.

There's no way Vauxhall will give you the same information, I've tried.

Thanks for the replies. I have my security PIN code for the old ECU and the immobiliser is programmed. The replacement ECU was supplied as reset (open)

The ecu will give a fault code if not properly paired to the immobiliser, so maybe your problems are coming from something else faulty...

is it a ecu from a VX or a Corsa as it will need to be told not to use CANBUS , its probably trying to talk to the IMMO and ABS/BCM via CAN not K-line

I don't have any professional sw tools to mess about with that part of the ECU , but it can be done

Ah that might explain it. I'll check how it's talking to one another. So if CAN then there's a problem and I need it to switch to CAN

So:

  • used the auto vehicle detection in opcom and if I then click on CAN it reports with 'no communication'
  • click on KWP-2000 it detects the ECU and reports the VIN, MY, Model, Engine Code Identifier (0x1237) and the Bosch ME7.6x
  • then click on diagnose ECM and it fails with the message 'unable to decode make from VIN'

So:

  • if I go through manual detection
  • 2. Select Engine it reports the VIN, ECU hardware, etc etc
  • I then click on fault codes and no DTCs present
  • I then click on programming and it doesn't pick up the ABS as present
  • I then go back and select 'body', fault codes and again no DTCs present
  • select programming, enter security code then program immobiliser function, and engine controller installed from drop down and it reports back that programming failed
  • If i then reset ECU and then repeat 6 it reports that programming successful

All of the above is via KW-2000 protocol.

So I'm either being a numpty and  doing something completely wrong (or in the wrong order) OR something isn't right. Any help or a numpty guide to cloning would be much appreciated. Or if easier a call.

I've viewed various youtube clips but they seem to use the 'diagnose ECM' which doesn't work.

Thanks a lot!

Wile

The measuring blocks also reveal the immobiliser transmitted and engine received signals.

ME7.xxx would suggest ECU from a astra VXR , not a VX220 which is ME1.5.5

Does that mean the replacement ecu is the wrong one or is it possible to 're-specify' the engine management system to the correft version? Thanks very much

Having re-traced my steps a few times I now have a functioning ECU and VX again. Thanks again for the replies.

Would be interested to know what the issue was, in case it ever pops up again.

Bit of a  numpty mistake in that the earth connection on one of the looms not quite sat correctly/tight enough
