Morning all. Looking at getting some parts together for a total transmission refresh next year and have seen a gearbox. It's an F23 AH. Will this fit? I've looked at this page....... http://www.opel-info...triebe/f23.html ....and all the info seems to match the current box F23sr TN with same final drive. Thanks for any help.

I can confirm the vx220 z22se engines were exactly the same as the Astra engine. Lotus just added the vx specific stuff.

However I am unsure why the vx gearbox was given the code TN, espeically when it appears to be identical to the Astra F23 AH gearbox

I have the Zafira box, F something, it's a good match in the VX220, give better acceleration but still only revs 3000rpm at 70mph.

I hear the Zafira box has a different starter motor location but I may be wrong.

The box needs to be from a 2.2 for it to fit yours. The 2.0 (Z20LET/X20XEV) F23 has the starter motor in a different location. IIRC the 2.2 has the starter at the front whereas the 2.0 has it on the rear.

So there is more than one F23... What is the point in this code if it doesn't identify the one you want?

there are a few F23 gearbox bellhousing types; V6, diesel, family 1 (z20let, x20xe, etc) and family 2 (z22se, z22yh, etc), plus the vectra B z22se has a different gearbox mount position - not shared with any other model

Is there a way of knowing which one would fit the Z22SE in the VX220?

why do you think you have a Zafira gearbox?  What is the code on the gearbox sticker?  If it says 'TN' then you have the VX220 2.2 version of the F23

When I bought it I was told it has the 4.something final drive. Hard for me to compare though as my last VX220 was a normal NA.

Lots faster though, although it does have a little bit more power :D

I have had forum search and nothing came up but Google produced this.... http://www.vx220.org...rbox-questions/ The ah box is mentioned but he wasn't 100% sure.
