Hi all, new member of forum from Newcastle here.. long term petrol head / victim
currently own a Corvette C5 project car.. coming to an end.. but keeping it as too much invested in it now to part with it.. and it looks and sounds badass lol!
I was going to switchout the gearbox to a manual, and then maybe supercharge it... but realistically this is big money and really not worth it, not huge support network for doing tuning etc etc..
Been lurking and reading on here, always liked the Vx cars for years..
I want something for use to get a fix of fun on twisty's and even track days.. will never track the vette..
I love the VX as an option for that..
Idea would be to get a cheapish version and use it on limited mileage for a bit of a motorbike substitute as I have been banned from those now :-)
like the idea of driving to a track, going round for a few laps and riving home..
sorry for questions you may have seen before.. but essentially I'm looking at probably next year ( but who knows!!)
checklist would be :
> Turbo? ( seems best fun option and comes as factory so should be reliable, however Supercharger does intrigue me a lot!
> I don't mind cat D as long as this is not structural issues, it seems to not put you guys off?
seen cat c ! should I be afraid of that.. theres a cheap cat c up here from TVRGlen who doesn't seem to have fans on here! so maybe cheap for a reason.. also an NA version
I'm hoping not to go mad on mods ( can't promise!) got that t shirt with the vette..
so some questions
> recommend Turbo over NA ( assume bit of a premium but prices are all over due to peoples mods! ) but extra 50hp and delivery worth bit extra..
> what are typical running costs per year for you? ( I'm planning Garaged / Limited miles )
> any ongoing issues to be aware of?
> I guess its a Vauxhall so parts / prices are OK?
>do you track yours, how much to attend a track day? ( I'm hoping Croft does them)
do you need to mod car for track use? ( harness etc or not a requirement)
any members in and around the North East? with Turbo or SC cars? I have never been in one, be good to see one close up.. my friend has an Elise that was great fun..
thanks all
Dave
