looking at the cheaper ones and you now get a lot of more options and 4K UHD etc , but do you really need the image stabilisation , (with the £200 price jump ) ?
also battery life could be a pain , hence some come with 2 to swap

You now get IS in cameras that are £100 so don't need to spend a lot to get that feature.
Not sure how much benefit it would give for a trackday on a smooth surface if you already have a rigid camera mount.
Could see it would help a lot if you were mountain biking!
Battery life not so much an issue. Most cameras let you charge whilst recording. I run a lead to an external battery pack in the side pocket but you could just as easily route one to the cig lighter socket.
The so called 'no-pros' are really very good now, and theres a lot of choice. Worth considering what lens type you like best as you can get now get narrow (90deg) angle lenses. Most action cameras tend to be 130 or even 170 deg which gives you wide vistas but on a trackday it makes everything seem very far away, and flattens height changes. You can fix this on the 4k sensor cameras with a software setting instead tho'.
I doubt you will actually record in 4k much as it'll take forever to upload to youtube!

I use an SJCAM M10 and really can't fault it so far, also has the added bonus as being able to run as a dashcam. I had it linked up to a usb power brick that enabled me to record for aprox 24 hours to catch some pesky neighbours that were damaging the cars!

I'm glad you didn't post an embarassing video with me squealing in the passenger seat.

It came with bunch of fittings, for all kinds of sports, but I am to fit it to the harness bar, probably will use cable ties to adapt one of the fittings, plus a san disk 64gb card.
at full hd p60 , around 6 hours shooting , and the cable run to charge off the 12v socket is straight forward.
