I thought it was time to start building a bit of a thread for my car or just general build progress and ideas I have, which will then turn into track video's as and when.

The plan for the vehicle is to create a vx220 which is as light and nimble as possible, making the car feel 'On its toes'

What I think that looks like...

800-850kg

300Bhp

Short geared

Smallest wheels possible

The car will remain road legal as I have no trailer license and I'm not affluent enough to be chucking money at carbon fibre panels everywhere.

The base car is actually a great one, in simple a nicely track prepared stage 3 supercharged Na. Re-sprayed in a custom close to Isotope green (lotus) colour.

Since ownership I have done the following;

-Removed the carpets/door cards/rear speakers/pod/stereo/dash plates

-Sold the Red leather seats & Soft top

-Fitted Tillett B6 carbon seats on custom Aluminium brackets

-Converted to Lotus 4x100 hubs

-Fitted 15" wheels and back to 288mm discs

I also have the following parts on the to do list;

-Suede Wheel 320mm & Hub

-stud conversion

-Fibreglass coupe conversion

-Lotus GT4 wing

-Quaife LSD

-4.4 Final drive

I need to get the car geo'd and in turn getting a weight for the vehicle.

And the Map on the vehicle needs some fine tuning, that should see circa 300bhp which is more than enough for me and the car. (currently sat at about 275bhp)

Car will predominantly used on track, especially Cadwell/Oulton/Donnington.

Will upload pictures when I get the chance.

Dan

Have you done the calcs with the reduced rolling radius and the gearbox final drive change?

Depending on where your peak power is on your RPM I'm concerned that you might not even get up to 130 MPH as you'll run out of revs...

Yeah engine is fully forged Chris 👍🏼 Car will be maxing out at 139moh on the limiter (7k) in top gear Nev which should be perfect for me. May plan on putting uprated springs in and raising the limiter if it needs it. Both Westfield's were on the limiter at 125 and never caused any issues so should be plenty! Dan

Exactly what I wanted to do with mine! But because of budget I went down the cheaper route... Will you be running 15s on the rear too?

by my calculations (which will probably be wrong) i estimate that at about 7500rpm in 5th would achieve him about 140mph.

Peak speeds will be as follows with the 225/45/15 wheels and 4.4FD;

1st gear- 28mph

2nd gear-55mph

3rd gear- 82mph

4th gear- 115mph

5th gear-137mph

That's with a rev limit of 7,200rpm.

If its too short I'll go stronger valve springs and up the rev limit to 7,500ish with 50 profile rears and 5th will then be 149mph.

Why are you changing? Just to reduce unsprung weight?

Changing to smaller wheels to reduce weight, shorten gearing, make the car abit more nimble, cheaper tyres, and we have a few track mx5"s with 4x100 wheels so interchangabke too.

Morning Tony, Went for the Ultralite UL12's.

Don't think you can get a better wheel for the money. Light flow formed and £78 a rim!

There's some pictures on the '4x100 conversion thread'
