Hi everybody

first, excuse my english, i'm french :)

I bought a complete supercharger kit to batman recently but i have an engine with "small conrods" (my engine number begin with TA so it's a USA engine not germany...)

I would like to change internals for forged parts and i need your helpso if you could answer few question i will appreciate a lot!!

1) Should i choose wiseco 8:9 or 10:0?

i saw this kit in US:http://realstreetper...-86mm-8-91.html

Do you confirm that pistons rings and conrods screws are included in this kit (i think in small white box)?

Because it seems that conrods bearing are not supply in this kit, do you have an advice for choosing a supplier for conrods bearing?

2) I have to change the cylinder head gasket. Should i buy an OEM gasket or should i choose a "special" gasket? Any link for that?

3) I have to change cylinder head stud. do you think i should buy oem stud or this kind of kit: http://realstreetper...cotec-2-2L.html

4) I imagine it could be a good idee to change timing chain kit during this intervention. On my previous vx220, i bought FAI kit but i found the quality not really good (one gear was not OK so i keeped my oem gear and use only tensioner, chain guides and chain)

Wich timing chain kit do you use?

3) I'm trying to do a part list for this intervention, could you please say to me if i'm forgeting something?

-86mm (8:9 or 10:0?) WISECO pistons/eagle 5,765" conrods

- New cylinder head stud kit

- New cylinder head gasket

- Conrods bearing

- NEw damper pulley screw

- New camshaft gear screw

- new oil pan gasket

- new valve cover gasket

- new timing chain kit with z20net tensioner

MAny thanks for your help guys ;)

what are you after achieving power wise  ,  if its a m62 charger you might just be able to update the rods to max out the sc 300 ish hp

but if your planning on moving up to the harrop sc might be best to do it all.

As long as to disassemble the engine to change the connecting rods as much to benefit to change the pistons no?

if you do that its rebore ETC so if your sticking with the m62 you could save some money and just do rods, then if you feel like going harrop in the future you could build a standard bore engine from the saab b207 2.0 good for around 350 hp or change crank like my build for 2.2 and fully forged (saab) with new chains water pump etc etc

do a search for the saab b207

why do you speak about rebore?

My engine is only 19000 miles

I will keep eaton M62 harrop is too expansive.

I have a tullet 2.5 exhaust so lokking for 260bhp

you may aswell keep standard internals and keep it somewhere between 250-260 stage 2 and have the chains done

Nothing to worry about with the M62 type power levels....

Keep all OE style, especially bolts, gaskets...

Of course better rods would be the first thing to upgrade... but it's costly.

Fit the SC on your engine, have fun with ~250hp, kill it in a few years then rebuild it. Bottom ends are inexpensive now

this is not how i will proceed.

I prefer to do the thing right and never broken my engine even if change conrods and pistons is costly.

This is the price to pay for keep peace in mind and run without stress to break engine.

So any idea for my questions?

Thanks

1 - 8.9:1 and that kit has all the bolts, clips and rings. You can use your original conrod bearings.

2 - you can either use an OEM z22se head gasket or an OEM Saab B207 head gasket (I prefer the B207 head gasket for SC builds)

3 - OEM head bolts will be fine for a GM sc, but the ARP head studs are a nice addition

4 - only use genuine chain kits, never use pattern chain kits - they simply do not last as long as genuine.

5 -  list of parts;

- 86mm CR 8:9  WISECO pistons/eagle 5,765" conrods

- New cylinder head stud kit or OEM head bolts

- New cylinder head gasket

- Conrods bearing - not required

- New damper pulley screw - part number = 11589123

- New camshaft gear screw - comes in chain kit

- new oil pan gasket - it is actually sealant

- new valve cover gasket - not required, they are re-usable

- new genuine timing chain kit (comes with z20net tensioner)

genuine cam chain kit http://www.ebay.co.u...8YAAOSwagdXRwdE

genuine balancer chain kit http://www.ebay.co.u...jE9Fpcf4VZ3ZdIw

you should replace both chain kits - due to old age, regardless of mileage

whilst the engine is out you could also do the balancer delete, makes the engine rev a little quicker

you should be able to re-use your conrod bearings, unless there has been any oil pressure issues

I take a look at my conrods and I was really surprised to see that even if my engine was built in USA It is equipped with bid conrods as you can see on the picture!!
