Hi all

Just picked up my NA VX today and it is ticking all the boxes so far. I've always fancied one of these since they were launched, but figured time is running out to get a good low mileage car at a good price. It's silver and has had two owners plus a dealer demo. It's totally standard and has 41K on the clock.

There are a couple of things I need some advice on, I'm sure they will be covered on here somewhere, but if you can point me in the right direction I would certainly appreciate it.

Firstly the engine. On start up you get about a second (maybe less) of what I would call 'ziz' from the cam chain. Is this normal of should it be something I attend to? Registered in Oct 2002, I think mine is an earlier type? Maybe??

Secondly, the rear lights have quite a bit of dust and some flies in they. Is it possible to clean this out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated  :)

I guess I should say I'm in Kettering, Northamptonshire, if there are any other members near by.

Welcome to the mad house. Let's see some pics! Vocky is the guru of these engines so follow the advice above. The light units can be removed and there are guides on separating the bonded clear Perspex from the light unit. It involved being very careful and warming the unit up (in the oven or something) then you can open them up and wipe out the insides and reseal.

They are both Firenza's. The silver on is a 1974 HP Firenza (droopsnoot) and the blue one is a 1972 2300 Sport SL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks guys, I couldn't afford a turbo so the NA is certainly better for me. I know it's early days, but so far the car is exceeding expectations, I love the simplicity and rawness of it.

I often go to the monthly classic car meeting at Earls Barton in Northampton and I know there have been 3 or 4 220s there before so hopefully I'll get along with mine!

Oh Yeah, dopey me. Car looks so clean (and silver!) that they looked colour matched. False alarm then, no extra insurance premium reqd. Hope you get a bit of sunny weather in the next couple of weeks to fully enjoy, Chers
