Hello, I have a strange annoying groan (not the future wife) that only happens 2nd half of a trackday (can't get it to happen on the road)

Now I think it's my front ap rotors as 2nd half of a trackday these cracks get larger as the more sessions go on

Has anyone else experienced this? Highly annoyed as these where very expensive so I will be contacting eliseparts to see what they say.

Heard of this online but usually on much heavier cars, and not specific to AP. I'd push eliseparts for help, but I don't know AP warranty terms on track use. Failing that you could skim them and see if it's just on surface.

That's no problem,if the cracks reach the edge you need to replace them,I've warped a set after only 3 trackdays, which doesn't fill me with confidence

I just replaced my ultimax discs after only a few k miles because the disc was bulged in the middle when hot. Only knew for sure when I swapped the disc there is a ring in the transport paint that the pad isn't clearing, showing the pad isn't flat and it's not fully in contact. Moral for me is buy cheap discs and swap them regularly! Here is the VOSA advice, I think it needs to get much worse before you swap them out unless it's affecting performance or vibrating. https://movingon.blo.../braking-point/

Something makes a really loud groan when I slam on the anchors but only happens 2nd half of a trackday so when everything is really heat soaked Everything was replaced so will be interesting to know what it is but I don't want to start changing everything to eliminate it as all the bits are expensive! So if anyone has had a really load groan when braking hard and has fixed the problem I will love to hear what you changed!!!! Also if anyone knows where to get brake discs skimmed locally to bucks that would be helpful

I'm thinking the groan is the rotors as the cracks really expand on the 2nd half of the day.. But as said if anyone's had groaning brakes then I'm welcoming the advice thumbsup

Maybe you should try Alfa 159 discs like me.

They are £10 each, 330mm diameter, but very heavy due to the meat on them (though you could skim 2 or 3mm per side off easily).

When I was bedding in my RC8 pads I made them glow so much they went a sort of bronzy yellow colour once they cooled down, with no signs of cracking or warpage afterwards.

Jeeze, that's a deffo replacement job. I feel for you.   :grouphug:

It's bloody criminal how this after market stuff is sold with no sort of guarantee that is ever upheld. Basically everything is marketed as "race-spec", "awesome this that and the other", all with pretty pics that succer you in. But in actual fact most of it is unfit for purpose, badly designed, badly made, and just sold on for the maximum of profit with the minimum of responsibility.

I went though the exact same fury with my exhaust manifold. :(
