Does anyone have a good idea for mounting an Iphone in the vx ? Preferably not on the windscreen or with double sided tape, thanks for that one Joe.....

Need to use the phone for a sat nav as well as controlling the stereo, Spotify, picking up calls ect

I use a Belkin one stuck on the windscreen, not what you wanted but it's ideal and out of the way (It's pants in portrait mode, the VX is too bumpy, but perfect in landscape mode).

That actually doesn't look that bad, normally that location distract me,  especially at night.

How secure is the phone held in the mount ?

Horizontally it's perfect, it's suction cupped onto the windscreen and then the bottom of the phone holder part is sat on the dash. It's survived a Hoon and two euro trips now (including the Ring!). At night as long as you adjust the brightness and use a maps that changes to night mode (pretty sure both Apple and Google maps do this) it's fine.

I had a similar question recently after getting fed up with my suction mount one either dropping off the screen or blocking visibility.

In the end I used a Ram Mount motorcycle handlebar mount, and drilled and tapped a hole in the lower dash (it comes with a standard M8 bolt that runs through the middle of the ball). Bit of an extreme option maybe but I don't think it looks too bad, and has the advantage that anything can be mounted on the point now and it's completely rock solid. Has the phone well out of the way of the screen but still the right height for controlling stereo and glancing at for navigation. The way the Ram arms work means it can be adjusted however you want.
