My battery went flat through non use of my vxt. Charged it up and- at first- i had issues with the alarm sounding and indicators flashing. However, I put this down to the battery not quite having enough charge (remember having similar issues once before) so disconnected and charged more. I also don't have the alarm keypad rubber button thing to hand as never use it as alarm/central locking didn't work. Now it starts fine with no alarm sounding or strange indicator flashing BUT the tiny red light on the dash (above the Speedo/rev counter) is continuously flashing. Simple question, will it drive ok without the immobiliser suddenly kicking in mid journey? I can't remember if this light normally flashes whilst driving and- if not- whether it might cause problems. Thanks for any input

The alarm has nothing to do with immobiliser mate
The immobiliser is linked to the chip in the key so I would say you will be fine you could try pulling the alarm fuse so it's not powered at all
Alarm usually sounds when you re connect the battery so I would guess you have an alarm warning situation which may need clearing with the alarm fob

Thx for the reply mate. I heard stories of people getting about 5/10 minutes along before the engine cuts out suddenly. Not sure about this though! I've had it running up to temp on the drive for ten mins and has been fine thus far

The red light on the speedo dial, which also acts as a rev limit warning light, flashes if the alarm has been triggered. The sequence of flashes tells you whick sensor was activated. Door, bonnet or boot. Turn the ignition on and then press the remote fob button to stop it. But without the fob, you may have to put up with it!
