Although the Green tariffs do seem to be the lowest cost at the moment it's not really about saving money for me so I'd only want to switch to a renewable supplier.

We've had a smart meter for about a year, it's great for trend analysis.

I am with Green Energy for over a year, no problems at all and cheapest for me so far! Happy customer

Smart meters have caused havoc round me. Some peoples bills have more than doubled, some are paying nearly nothing. Turns out the calibration was a bit shonky. Worth keeping an eye on if you get one. I looked at green energy a while back. Get the from me.

I was with OVO for a couple of years. They do a 100% Green energy tariff and were very easy and good to deal with. With a great on-line interface. Not sure how competitive they are now which is why I switched a couple of years back.

I'm with bulb and the only complaint I could have is you pay by debit card so I no longer get my cash back on my 123 account.

This seems like snake oil to me. I cant see how they can guarantee that for every unit you use they'll put one green unit back in the grid, the energy suppliers cant just produce the amount they want and put it in to the grid, there's a system where the grid buys units from whoever can produce it at the time its needed, at a bartered price from whoever produces the energy across the UK.

 

Maybe they can do it because they amount of customers they have and the units they use is well under their normal production levels.

We cant convert all our farm land to solar farms as where will our food come from?

Wind turbines, while very cool, p*ss many folks off for some reason.... Which is better to look at, wind turbine or nuke/fossil station?

Tidal, easy, but seems untrendy here, maybe because like the breakers on beaches, they may cause problems around the corner so to speak.

I've never understood the wind turbine objections, these people have seen electric pylons right? Plus Wind turbines can be offshore too.

 

We really need to get cracking with Fusion but until then renewables have to be the way.

This website is great, it shows you in real time the UK power usage and how its split between each type of power generation. Also shows trend data for the week. Lots of pro's and con's for each type of generation.
