Hi I have recently bought my first VX220 (n/a) and loving every second. The car has a VSE exhaust and the common problem of the EML light being on. Will this exhaust always cause the EML to come on or will replacing the lambada sensor cure the problem? If the exhaust is the problem is there any cheat I can use for the next MOT.... I have read old posts about 'lambada cheaters' but can't seem to find anywhere selling them. Many thanks

I would check the code that the light relates to first. That will give you some info to go on about what is tripping the light before you start spending money. I think I have a spare lambda cheater in the garage if you need one though.

Thanks for the reply pete-r. I ordered a code reader over the weekend so hopefully that will arrive tomorrow and I can check what code is thrown up (if I can disipher it of course!!). Just wasn't sure from reading old posts whether the VSE would always put the EML on regardless of new lambada sensors etc. Would be interested in that lambada cheater though if you do have a spare one.

had a vse for years and it never threw an eml as a result. Wait for the code reader and let us know the codes.

Vse will not effect the lambdas as it's just a backbox

Had my vse fitted about 18 months ago, and haven't had the eml light up. Like the Batmabn says;  the vse is just a backbox.

Well luckily my code reader did arrive today so plugged it in and had 5 error codes. 2 faults appear to be regarding the immobiliser (P1612 & P1614) so I will have to look into these later but also getting the following: P0141 - 02 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 2 P0378 - Crank sensor? C3F00 - can't find any references to this so may have written it down incorrectly, will have to check tomorrow. I assume the P0141 code is the most likely cause of the EML light and refers to lambada sensors? Is so, how do I know which one is causing the fault and are these something I can replace myself? I have reset the codes to see if they return as some could be old uncleared codes. Many thanks for any assistance

Bank 1 sensor 2 means the post cat sensor. The heater has died. Cheap option is to fit a 15ohm 50W power resistor and rivet it to the chassis then use the two white wires to connect to it. Better option is to get an oem sensor (not a sub £20 eBay special)

Thanks for the replies everyone.... it's a great help. Slindborg just to confirm, the post cat sensor will be the one closest to the the VSE backbox? Can I check which code relates to the heater, is it the C3F00? My car has the usual fan not working on the slowest speed problem so makes sense. Cheers guys

the Lambda heater has nothing to do with the cabin heater.

Yes, sensor 2 will be the one closest to the VSE (just before the bend in the pipe, oh and be VERY VERY careful which electrical plug you put the sensor back into, there are two of the same type in the area, one is left empty... be sure to leave it empty)

C3F00 is not a standard DTC... I'd clear them all, go for a drive and see what comes back up.

Post cat is the last one nearest the tail pipe so after the cat nearest the silencer

Ahhh I see, was myself getting confused! I've reset all my codes so will see what comes back up when I go for a drive at the weekend and assuming the EML comes back on will start looking for an oem lambada sensor. Noted regarding the two electrical plugs, I'll make sure I label the correct one when I disconnect. Cheers
