Thanks everyone. Low speed running is much better now thanks. In fact low speed running is much better than before the warning light came on. It must be that a poorly performing sensor does not trigger the warning light unless it more or less shaggered.

Can somebody shed some light on why a shagged post cat lambda would cause rough running?... I appreciate that if it fails the ECUs emmissions check, it will may run in a 'safe' callibration causing rough running... is this the only cause? I would have thought that would be pretty binary though, and trigger the EML?

Pre-cat sensor for fueling. Post cat serves only to confirm to what degree the cat is functioning. (So far as I am aware)Doesn't the sensor have affect on fueling. Hence the poor running? My friends MR2 turbo had a bad O2 sensor and it was 40bhp down on power on a Dyno. Once replaced engine was so much smoother. I think it was in a safe map, massive overfueling. Or is that only the precat sensor?
