Hi All,

I have finally got a little bit of time to spend messing around with my VXT and would really like some help on putting on a Z20LEH Astra VXR turbo on it if possible.

Is it just a bolt on or do I need to modify things or change things in any way ?

I have read something about the water pipes needing to be changed over from the old one to the new one and that the actuator may need to be changed?

Has anyone here done it ? I will be getting it remapped afterwards as I have also put on a VXR exhaust pipe and have a nice big intercooler to put on as well.

I know there is probably a post here that explains it all but I can't find it, a link to that would help too...

I was planning to sell the car last week but have changed my mind as I don't think I have had the most out of her yet..

cheers guys.

Gib.

while you are doing it, replace the sump oil pipe for the VXR one , which has extra support brackets . I have had two of the original pipes fail on me.

That sound like a "must do" especially for something so cheap....

Any useful info on my OP ?

I plan to do all my mods myself as that's the bit I love but am trying to avoid any obvious pitfalls.

cheers.

the vxr turbo will come with a "DZ" stickered actuator already preset for factory boost @8-9psi , you will have to move the water feed, but its obvious when put side by side.

new manifold studs and nuts

24mm socket if you don't have one , or give me a shout and will come over.

i will go out and get a phone pic of the water feed differences.

this pic might not work, but I did mine again this year with a better hybrid compressor wheel,

That's kind thanks, I think I have a 24mm in my set, that's big, what's it for ?

I have a second hand Turbo which I am told is fine and came off of a perfectly running Astra VXR engine, I trust the guy and he bought the whole engine and only needed the block so gave me the turbo.

That install looks very neat and tidy indeed. Can't wait to get my Clam off and start tidying things up.

Do I need new VXT studs and nuts or VXR ones?

I have done heaps of engine work in my time but I am very new to the Turbo so am properly in the dark here.

All very exciting.
