Facebook is ok for banter and its more active than the forum but its no replacement for the fantastic resource we have here.I prefer the forum to Facebook as I just do not like Facebook. Hey ho...

Not wanting to rock the boat, but I do feel those people paying £12 a year are getting a raw deal, but then again no one is forcing them into it so it's entirely their own choice and I'm not going to criticise that.
Here is food for thought. 200+ people willing to pay £12 a year to gain access to a few restricted areas in a free forum. They have no control or say over the running of this forum, and one day, all of the good information that has been ploughed into this site could simply vanish overnight if the owner was to 'pull the plug'......what would be left other than a Facebook page?
Running a club takes a lot of hard work, and it needs an active committee. Our club's income varies between £9k and £11k a year and the committee is committed to spending 90% of this income in numerous ways that benefits the club members;
Hog roasts and BBQ's at national shows
Christmas meal
Beer / food funds for when a group of members attend smaller shows
Funding towards club organised camping weekends
Funding towards club road trips (both UK and across the channel)
We put on our own show / family weekend
Also, the club owns our forum.....not an individual so our forum cannot just vanish on the whim of 1 individual.
And if the club disagree with how the money is being spent, they bring it up at the agm......and if they feel strongly enough, they can vote on a new committee.
You guys barely get anything for £12 a year and potentially all this could be gone tomorrow..........
Being a club takes a lot of hard work and dedicated people to be on the committee. If you don't have that, then you would be no better off than you are now - i.e. not getting much for your money.
BTW - our club is open to all makes / models of cars as a lot of our kit car owners eventually sell-up and buy a production car, however they still stay a member / active within our club.........therefore if I'm allowed and not breaking any forum rules, I'll be putting up invitations to our events etc...on here if anyone would be interested in bringing their VX? I know my VX will be going to a lot of it kit car meets now because I love it!!!

I'm an avid reader of most posts for free! Paying 12 quid means I can advertise my car for sale when I potentially no longer want to use the forum, makes no sense really. Let's be honest you can put you're car up for sale anywhere nowadays and someone will spot it and mention it on here anyway. VX owners are a nice small group (i like that too) but paying subscribers volume will be low. I'm sure if someone was to pull the plug we'd step in to save it (I hope) and yes I cannot stand Twatbook either, so forum for me all the way.
Interesting to hear how other club run things......

I suppose somebody could just use a good scraper to backup the content.

I do think given how photobucket has screwed up al the decent "how to" threads etc. that the forum owner should at least be providing a facility for us to rebuild the content in those threads to keep them useful.
I don't think that is much to ask and in doing so, they may well encourage more people to cough up a £1 a month to ensure the access to that useful stuff.
And as i'm paying, whoever the owner is pull your bloody finger out and get the forum safer - the antivirus/trojan alerts I get from here are appalling and it is the ONLY forum where I get that sh*t from.

double post, another annoying thing we cant delete them
Saying that given the rise of FB this site must be worth 15p not 15k
