If you don't understand the basics of weapon handling then you shouldn't be allowed to have one.

Unbelievable. Why is it loaded in the house? How has he got to a point of cleaning it without dismantling the basics to find that it is still loaded?!
I cant imagine even putting mine back in its slip after a day out with cartridges still in it, its just second nature to break and empty it before it goes back in the car.
So many failings by someone who is clearly too complacent to be safe in the first place. if he's managed to shoot himself cleaning it in his house i dread to think what his gun safety was like out and about

It's staggering isn't it; thank goodness he shot his own head off instead of his wife or some other innocent bystander.
I do a lot of rock climbing using ropes and the sheer volume of thoughtless belayers (who control/hold the rope) contributing/causing to potentially very serious accidents is staggering too.

Met him on several occasions and he was a real gentleman. Unbelievable that he could make such a mistake. RIP
