1. Slice up the wall with a concrete saw like this.

2. Drill a hole in the wall.

3. Put a strong piece of steel through.

4. Put a 50 ton bottle jack underneath.

5. Jack it up.

End result: -

This was before.

Can you think of a better way to get your back passage enlarged?

Good work, in my experience of building and demolition the BFH is the way forward. I would have probably sliced it up and used a big SDS. Like your method though thumbsup

If it works it works, though I hope those jack seals don't weap if you're leaving it for an extended time.

I think a longer handle for the jack might be a sensible idea.

So I've now got a load of huge blocks of concrete, some of which are either too thick to use the concrete saw on, or are in a difficult position to cut. To be honest, the neighbour is starting to moan about the smell of 2 stroke smoke. I asked a builder friend and he said rent a big pneumatic hammer with a compressor - which would cost a lot.

So a bit of latteral thinking, I remembered I have a core drill.

Didn't take that long, and a lot cheaper than renting a pneumatic hammer.

I used the same principle with an ordinary 10mm masonry bit when making a doorway from my garage into the house. I could have cut through with a circular blade which would have been quicker, but, from experience, the amount of dust generated would have been horrendous. Looks like you've still got quite a bit left to do there. I'm lucky, my next door neighbor is a builder. When he found out what I was doing he lent me any tools I needed and when I spoke about buying a door frame, said "Wait here" and thirty minutes later came back with one he'd made from scratch.

This lump took some work. I was even tempted to dig a hole and dump it in that.

Easy now, you will have to change the thread title NSFW with that sort of racy material.
