Saab Internal Trigger Wheel ?

Hi guys,

I heard about a guy who made internal trigger wheel for saab engine to fit with the z22se ecu (6+1).

some one know where to buy ?

eventually can think to take the external one...

Is for a customer Z22  vx.

Think I've got my old trigger wheel that Vicky had made and also have the Saab lightweight flywheel to go with it.

I made one myself. Internal trigger wheel for the B207 that is. Ordered a blank from a machine shop and cut out the trigger holes. It's not that much work, but if you're doing it for a customer, will not be very cost effective. Before I did that, I looked high and low for an of-the-shelf one, but couldn't find it. If you need dimensions and/or timing information, let me know

sure would be usefull if you had dimensions for a tested solution. I was looking for a plug and play kit because I know that tuning and testing (strobo light) is often necessary to get a reliable solution.

The keyword here is 'tested'. Making the trigger wheel is really not a big deal. The issue is to get the timing right, which boils down to drilling the 3 hole pattern for the 3 bolts that hold the trigger wheel at the correct angle. I did that by putting the B207 trigger wheel on top of the new one and turning it the right amount of degrees and drilling the new holes through the old ones. That should work, but I can't check as I don't have the engine back from the machine shop yet. It'll get stronger liners, conrods and pistons. Once it's back I can check the timing. Knowing myself a little bit, it will be off by 180 degrees :huh: . In that case I'll use an external trigger wheel. I think in your case, working for a customer, I would go for an external one. Much easier to correct. FYI:

- Z22SE trigger wheel, 6+1 with the 6 trigger holes evenly spaced at 60 degrees and the middle of the sync hole at 10 degrees from a trigger hole and 55 degrees ATDC. Hole width is 8.5 mm at a diameter of 162.5 mm, which comes down to 6 degrees (in case you want to use a different diameter wheel)

- B207R trigger wheel is 116.5 degrees BTDC

I have one of Vocky's and its worked fine for the last two years (incl. living outside for that time). I believe he has to modify the oil pump cover and the crank pulley, so not sure its as easy as an off-the-shelf kit..

 

I'd have preferred an internal version, but for two issues - no one made them at the time, and you have to strip the crank out to install presumably..
