or are the engines totally different.

 

Only asking as my friend has a caterham with a vauxhall c20xe red top engine, the engine has blown, he's looking for another engine, and i thought maybe he could upgrade to a a20nht engine conversion. would a A20NHT/NFT easily.

the c20xe shares the same bellhousing as the z20let

 

the a20nft shares the same bellhousing as a z22se

 

so unless he changes the bellhousing it's not going to work

Totally different. Wrong bell-housing pattern / starter location.

 

The Z20LEx are probably the same / similar though.

Surely 2.0 Duratec is the way to go, especially if he already has a type 9 box? All the parts (bellhousings etc) are available off the shelf.

 

Duratec is a significantly more advanced and lighter than the let/xe block.
