Yep, I overtook a sup'ed up one once, whilst it was overtaking 3 other cars - very memorable.

I would image they are very good handling cars though, my rear blade suspension in my Focus TDi is truly excellent. Mind you, many modern cars are really amazing.

No, sorry but read a lot about HGF... unsure how much of a real world issue this is, or just isolated well publicised cases.

Been quite a few reported globally with head gasket failure, ford have replaced engines which inturn have then failed with the same fault . Ford are apparently working on the fix but nothing yet confirmed. Theres a lot of worried owners out there and also worried about the impact on future values due to the fault.

I seriously contemplated one as a daily. However there are two big issues to consider: 1. HGF as mentioned by others 2. They are all getting nicked. Ford keyless entry is being copied by a signal machine picking up the code from outside peoples houses. Then they simply open the car and drive off. Its really worrying... Owners are having to keep keys in a lead box.... Jon

You can buy faraday pouches to put keys in which also block signals to these scanning devices off eBay .

Not tried the RS but a mate in work has an ST which is as quick as my GTI and I'd say makes a better noise but the interior plastics are a bit crap. Plus I always feel in the focus I'm sitting too high in the car and on the seat rather than in it if that makes sense. It's an obvious option but I'd look at a Golf R if you want a mega power hatch (but for me the GTI is the better car).

Apparently so, I think all these 4wd rocket hatches are ideal for getting up to no good and the keyless systems make it much easier.

That said, you probably hear about these things but you won't hear about the thousands of owners who have never had any issues...

The keyless system is flawed but you can just hide a kill switch in the car to immobilise it just like in the 80s

Phewf, just looked them up, 345 HP.

When I was learning to drive, a 120 HP car was considered fast.

No different to any marque with using keyless entry
