Does'nt look chrome orange to me, seems lighter than that with less pearl effect / sparkle also.

IM not 100% but seem to remember a chap who had a vx with a similar plate to that who had his car wrapped in bright orange

Pretty sure it was Lotus Chrome Orange this one.

Yeh looks to be chrome orange. I'm a spray painter and painted my old Nissan chrome orange. All I can advise is it matters massively on each pic, the angle of sun and the camera on how the car looks, either being dark orange or bright yellow! Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I'm considering a colour change.. Would I be right in thinking that chrome orange, whilst looking amazing, is a PITA when it comes to sorting stone chips?

Not the best for stone chips. EP touch up kits do an okay job.

Yeh stone chips will never look right. It's a very transparent colour and requires a ridiculous amount of coats on top of the fact it's already a 3 stage pearl. Primed white first then at the very least 5 coats of colour and three coats of pearl. I gave mine 6 coats of colour and 5 coats of pearl and still wasn't enough tbh. If the body shop already knows this they may quote you an arm and a leg. If not don't tell them but come to an agreed price before committing. I wouldn't like to think how much you could be charged. Well, I think that discounts chrome orange then! I suppose it's fair to say that a colour change of any sort is always more of a faff (and expensive) than a re-spray so I've agreed with the bodyshop that we'll decide on the colour once the fibreglass repairs (all minor, but lots of them..) are all done and the car is ready to paint and when I know how much of my budget has been spent up to that point.. I strongly suspect the car will be staying Calypso!

Do you mind me asking what kind of costs your expecting for all the prep

See what they say price wise. If it's a big place they will have an estimator, and they often were never painters and no nothing on paint opacity, you could be in luck. It's a beautiful colour and transformed my 350z. I'll put in a link to my vid. It really shows how it turns yellow reflecting low sun. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

He's an 'old school' one-man band and he reckons around 7-10 days work to repair the numerous 'scars' and prep ready for paint.. he does a cracking job (did my old BM and my dad's Daimler) and he's veeeerrryyy cheap..

I think my fear (apart from the cost of doing it) is the maintenance of it, I use the car regularly and track it so stonechips would be inevitable..
