Managed to get some more power last night but I’m still far from finished or happy with it. Patients is what’s required....something I lack with my own projects lol. Chill and Luke have kindly helped by letting me view there maps so I pulled a few bits from each to crest a new base map before putting it on the rollers hopefully later on today with Lees

Hi,

First of all, thank you to share all this information!

Can you make a zoom in in the lower part of the power measurement to take a look to the knock retard?

Thank you,

Cheers,

FV

Rich, I hope you don't drive like Joe, otherwise, all that power & effort will be wasted! A reliable 400 is more than ample. You may find that your geo, setup & cooling is more critical than power above 350.

Nice added midrange! What is the wonky yellow line on the bottom?

How are your fuel lines set up? Do they go back as far as the fuel filter area? I want to do similar on mine. Did you do it yourself or get someone to do it?

there is no set rule, 400bhp seems to be the safe limit everybody mentions about the Gen 1 and Gen 2 blocks

Gen 3 are stronger, but not heard of a max bhp figure

The upgraded ZZP 'cylinder girdle' blocks can take well over 500bhp

I would recommend a girdled 2.4 bottom end, should be good for over 500bhp :D

The ecotec engine loves extra cc

Fuel lines are very easy and cost about £10-20! Basically chop you old metal fuel lines about 4” from the fittings take them and some fuel pipe to a hydrolic fitting place and get them to crimp some ends on. The only tricky part is you need to use one of the quick connect fittings on the plastic bulkhead pipe and that requires a fitting tool to fit it. I have the tool and am happy to lend it out

Hi Richard,
Thanks for letting me know, I know it was built properly from the build thread you did but I get a bit nervous with running somthing so highly tuned.

I'm not selling engine or car I'm afraid, as I'm still getting used to it and enjoying it. I'm off to Donny on 20th Aug, so looking forward to my August track day fix.

Your car is looking amazing and looks like your almost there for your engine although I know you have a thirst for more and more power..... It would be interesting to know how you get on with your exhaust on track, as it looks like you should have no problem with the extra volume.

New breather system fitted this week, I’ve copied zoobeef and tapped into one of the addition crank case ports in the cam cover. I reverted back to an Aluminum cover and welded in two an8 fittings. The Ralloy catch tank has worked well, the only thing I think I’ll change is the breather in the top of the tank. I’m going to change that for an an12 fitting and put a pipe down and out the bottom of the car so that the fumes can’t be smelt inside the car(I currently have gaps all around the top of the bulkhead).

New coolant header tank should be finished next week, that just needs powder coating and fitting then. Joe is also helping me draw up a new alloy WI injection tank to sit in the right hand sill. Just deciding on the best baffle layout before sending the drawing in. This will make filling the water so much easier as it’s currently in the car!

Once the water tank is moved into the engine bay I think I’m going to look at reinstalling the speaker cover with some sound deadning, I know this will add more weight but will hopefully allow you to hear yourself think whilst driving the car lol.

Why not just copy my design but mirror it for the right sill. ?

Easy to get to though 😁. Vocky I need some dates from you to get the cams fitted? They arrive next week and I’d like to get them in asap

Car looks great.... I went off at cascades couple of track days ago locking the fronts with the abs disconnected. Tyres were absolutely shot and I had zero feel through the tyre or pedal but still annoyed me that The braking balance was so poor. I have always struggled on the brakes and lots tons of time compared to my friend on 4 channel exige.

I have just gone 4 channel and as JG coco etc have said it's a total game changer suddenly got rear bias and It stops like never before.

With your power I would highly recommend it :) brings the brakes to life.

Yet to try it on track but it's interesting to see the difference it's making on shot tyres

Fuel lines look good :)

You should try disconnecting the rear (right) senso too and see how that feels with a disabled abs.

Even with the 4 channel, I still had this unsure feeling sometimes...

I'm not a fan of the 4 channel either
But is better than the 2 channel

Suppose it all depends on tires
