So the car survived a day at Anglesey for this years National. When I say survived I mean the engine came back still working and the car in one piece!! A had several issue, the main three being, oil everywhere in the engine bay caused by a trial breather system, brakes went to the floor after 3-4 laps and the aero is slightly rear biased(shock 🤣).

So the cars back in peices again for several upgrades and checks....

New custom exhaust system
New breather system
M8 conversion the the inlet manifold bolts on the head
Strip inlet to clean it along with laminovas
Change water injection jet sizes, currently 0.5. Now changing to 0.7
Fit 6 rib alt pulley and belt
Remove all the carbage from the right hand side of the engine bay
Cut outs to the rear clam
Carry out rear clam hinge conversion
Make and fit large front splitter
Make a pair of new fuel pipes as per my last car
Heat proof/reflective tape around the tailpipe to protect the clam

I suggest you put that heat shield back on which sits between the clam and subframe.

There will be no clam to shield so it’s staying in the bin lol

Hi,
The rear cut outs look good, are they to improve airflow out of engine bay to help engine & gearbox temps? Do you have to put some braces in to strengthen this area?

Is the reflective tape to put on the body work by the tips? As mine got burnt at my track day.

Can you tell me what are those 4 cylinders? In your pic?

Cuts out are for both looks and improved airflow/cooling, this will only be so effective on mine due to the fact I am also cutting out all of my boot so the air can flow in and out with ease.

Yes the reflective tape will be put around the exhaust tips, my new exhaust will only have a single 3" exit pipe as apposed to the current twin 3.5" setup. This should also help as it will no longer be so close to the clam.

The four cylinders are the laminovas that have been removed from the inlet manifold for cleaning. These probably haven't been cleaned in 4-5 years so were seriously over due. If you have oil or debris around the laminovas it causes both poor flow and poor cooling of the inlet temps.

No fun just being the same as everyone else max lol. The car is a long way of from where it needs to be but i'm hoping this latest batch of mods will allow the car to remain in one piece hopefully until the end of the year now.

How much power does it run now to max out the 2x 0.5mm WI jets, as those should be enough for ~400hp?

(And how is that Piper 2.5 manifold holding up with all the heat? These tend to crack very easily with some SC power...)

Ok thanks, with no boot, you'll have plenty of room for exhaust silencers. Hinged rear clam will be really useful aswell.

Power is pretty poor atm Frank, which is why it’s all apart again. The inlet temps were high on track considering I had water/meth running....50deg average. Though I now suspect that was down to all the oil in the inlet manifold blacking the laminovas. I’ve increased the jets just to give me plenty of scope when mapping as it’s all controllable through the obd pro software.

Power run after the national showed the engine was only running at 300bhp....rubbish lol!!!

Was that on your dyno or in the software? Remember that the software doesnt take into consideration any aero drag on the car.
