I didn't realise Alfa used an auto version of the M32 gearbox - look like a hydraulically-operated automated manual which may not be quite as tragic as the typical torque convertor slush box.. Probably still tragic.. https://www.ebay.co....FEAAOSw5IJWeAq3

Will it directly fit the Z22SE?

Bolt and starter pattern looks the same.

Hmm be nice if this would fit had a couple of Alfa with the selespeed box and they are not as bad as people say once you get used to it If this was a sensible option it would help as I am struggling with the clutch after breaking my ankle Feel the vx might have to go eventually 😡

I cannot see any reason why it would not fit a vx220, obviously it would need the Lotus Europa M32 driveshafts and gearbox mounts, Z22SE M32 flywheel and clutch, plus whatever is required for the gear shift mechanisim.

Hi I guess that could be done but that I think would cost more than my vx would be worth Might have to consider a z4 or something

The extra reservoir and pump/valve gubbins on the front may make it a tight fit to the chasssis beam/fueltank, but likely the hardest problem would be the control system as it may well have fairly tight integration with the original Alfa systems.

That usually takes a bit (lot ;) ) of time and effort to make a transmission system like that cooperate 'nicely'. May also need some hooks/interaction with the ECU, usually for some torque reduction at shift moments.

Bye, Arno.
