I want to use the LSJ crank which has the stroke of 86mm. Apparently, this crank has 60+2 teeth trigger wheel, while L61(z22se) trigger wheel is 6+1 teeth.

I see many were using the external trigger wheel setup, but why is it so? Is it not possible to replace the internal LSJ trigger wheel with custom made Z22SE trigger wheel?

Most were doing that on a saab B207 enigne, being reluctant to swap that, as it requires opening the engine. I would say yes, you should be able to use a custom trigger wheel with Z22SE pattern on your lsj crank.

Wait for more info from Vocky the engine wizzard, or exmantaa who actually runs an lsj engine in his speedster. (though using hp tuners on stock triggerwheel)

There's a few external trigger wheel options (although still not easy and off the shelf). Or there is an internal version that was done, but not sure who made them. The external is attractive as it means you don't have to strip down your new engine to install. I use an external wheel (Vocky's own design) and had no issues in 2 years while living outside.   See below for some one selling an internal /external wheel. https://z22se.co.uk/...nversion.29000/

to replace the standard B207 (internal) trigger wheel you need to remove the crank from the engine, so not a two minute job. However not really a difficult job with the engine out of the car, just turn the engine upside down and remove the sump and craddle, etc.

A guy in the states makes an internal L61 trigger wheel, possibly Hitech do as well - not 100% sure.

I don't have any external trigger wheels and will not be sourcing any more either. I convert the B207 engines to a 2.2 with the z22se crank, steel rods and forged pistons.

Thanks for the valuable feedback. Do you have a paricular reason for using the z22se crank?

My thoughts that with LSJ crank I will be able to incease the rpm limit much further and without harm for the engine than with the L61(z22se).

Vocky, do you have contact details of this person, who may supply custom trigger wheels?

the z22se crank can safely rev to 7800rpm, I have never seen a power curve that has not peaked before 7800rpm on a z22se (or hybrid) na / sc / turbo. So probably no point it revving it higher.
