Yes - I have a plate C8RKH which is 5 digits on my Evora. You cannot keep it the old black and silver metal design though, I believe it needs to be a modern "look".
The main NO NO is putting a later plate on an old car - the DVLA rules that in this case you are trying to make your car younger than it is. You can however make it as "old" as you like iirc.

The old car must have valid TAX & MOT in order to transfer away to a new car (that must also be taxed and insured).
Or have been SORN for a continual 5 years.

My 1961 Fiat 500 has the registration 165 UYO and the log book states that this registration is not transferable.

That's probably because someone has removed the original plate to sell or keep and the plate that is on it now is an age related plate. Otherwise you could continually keep harvesting plates from the car. The car was imported 3 years ago from Italy.

Yes, that's why then, it's already been issued with an age related plate. If they can't determine the age, it would go on a Q plate. Sent from my iPad using TapatalkThe car was imported 3 years ago from Italy.

C8RKH came straight from DVLA for a bargain £140 and went straight on the car I had at the time.
Jut buying a new plate for the VX, that's a bargain too and again from DVLA as cheaper than reg transfers etc...
