The search function is broken and I would really like to have some feedback about the latest tyres for use on Track.

I have been using AO48s but it seems these are becoming very difficult to source, I thought they were now illegal. I keep getting through about 3 sets of rears for 1 set of fronts...is this about right?

Also I quite like the look of the new R888Rs and the NanKang AR1s. Ive never used Avons or Federals before.

The Federal RSRs are great value for money as they are cheap and seem to last a moderate time and warm up fairly easily. However they are really not as grippy as R888 or Khumo v70. If you have lots of money and happy to replace very often then the Khumo v70a tyres are the best I've ever driven (though I've not tried Avons or AR1s from your list).

while the super soft compounds might have more peak grip , as a driver I am having more fun getting the back out and a controlled 4 wheel drift and the speed difference is not a lot.

AD08Rs are good for this. £400 a set, so not the end of the world if I get a puncture. 8mm tread from new so last ages, fine on wet motorways for those of us without trailers. But unlike normal road tyres they don't melt after 2 laps, and have a stiff sidewall so feel precise.
