i had a r26 225 smeg, it was a awesome car apart from the dreadful traction control

only ever broke down once which was a earth cable from battery to gearbox so only a few quid to fix.

So is the only difference between the 225 and the 230 5bhp?

225 has no LSD - R26 has LSD, revised dampers, Recaro Trendlines seats and the power increase. Also has revised steering and traction control (it can be disabled on the R26 but its not nannying like on a 225)

I have had 4 over the years right from the original 225 , 3 R26s and a couple of 250s too (dont like these as much)

I would find a well looked after low mileage one. Engines like to pop, gearboxes, turbos all the usual old car stuff.

Very capable cars though the LSD is very effective and they are decent track cars out of the box.

From what I've seen there's an R26 225 and an R26 230, seem to change late 2006

No the 225 is the early car then F1 (2006) which was a Ltd edition with the steering and suspension revisions but no diff. The r26 is then available in cup and lux or "full fat" spec from late 2006. White and yellow cars carry a premium too.

OK. Its got to be yellow anyway. I'd be on my way to see this one if it had done 20k less miles.

I think* Artic Monkey had one when I first met him... he was quite the evangelist as I recall. I'm sure he'll be along with a comment soon.

Yep I did. What do you intend to use it for? Fast road or track? Great car for the money. Mine was in warranty mind so wasnt worried about any issues at the time. Usual stuff like French electrics can go wrong. I had to fiddle with the window regulator a coupe of times. Turbo runs out of puff at about 290bhp and there after youd want engine work. Gear box was stronger than my old Clio 182 for sure and never had any faults. Liquid yellow is the only choice of colour. ;)

European track days mainly where I'm more interested in the trip as a whole rather than having the ultimate track day car, also I wouldn't be modding it at all (apart from pads and tyres) Yes it will be yellow, do they make them in other colours :D

Sounds great. Car should be well suited to that then. A simple remap will wake the engine up and give you 250bhp. Rear discs can be exspecive as you have to buy OEM. They have the abs sensor in them so cant really get round it. The .r gear shifter mod is simple enough to fit and gives a nice race like feel when changing gear.
