I have fitted a set of Bosch 0280158123 injectors, plus adapters, to a Z22SE head and standard fuel rail. Its all firing up fine but the fuel rail is 4/5mm from sitting tight to the head. I dont want to overtighten them all, but was wondering if anyone had the same issue?

Injectors differ in length, sounds to me like you've installed some long ones.

Also check you've not left any orings in the holes.

O-rings lubed with some engine oil prior to fitting the rail to the head?

Bye, Arno.

The plastic spacers (GM ACDelco kit 217-2762) indeed brings your rail up half a cm.
Some engine fuelrails have spacers, where i think the GM kit is an actual match with.

I swapped to a Z20NET rail, which allready has these. (This comes with a 3.0 bar fpr though, where the Z22se one has 3.8)
The spacers can be seen here:

Unfortunately i don't have parts numbers for just the rail spacers.

I will ask exmantaa to pop in here, and comment.

Well, the Bosch 0280158123 injectors are a tiny bit longer then the "standard" Z20LET/VXR or Siemens 60lb's, so there is what causes the problem.

As Stefan pictured we have the same Bosch EV14 injectors on a standard Z22SE fuel rail, but we use these together with the grey plastic insulator seals and the extra required alloy raiser blocks. (Standard items on the Vaux Z20NET or older Saab B207 blocks...)

But what you don't see on those pics is that a small spacer washer is added between the rail and the two alloy raisers, to gain the extra clearane necessary for these longer Bosch EV14 injectors. ;)

Why is this desirable (3.0 vs. 3.8 bar)?

Saab B207/ (or same VX Z20NET engine use 3.0 bar rail pressure, so if you swap rails you must change the pressure regulator for the Z22SE version. (Or you must change the fuel mapping in OBD for 3.0 bar)

I don't know why exactly, but GM uses 58 psi rail pressure in almost all their engines.

The theory back then was less (hot) fuel pumped back into the tank when pressure is lower. Now with a few years later, and one of the dutch guys having serious fuel heat problem with this setup, i would says lessons learned: don't bother.

(Though others like myself run fine with it)

No measurements. The injector is at an angle, so you need to space out for some height + offset. (slot the rail a bit)

@Smiley; Dominique's heat issues were mainly related to his high power fuel pump set-up, but could be his lower 3 bar rail pressure was also less resistant to vapour lock. (He has issues with low load descending down in the Alps.) He now changed pump.

In the LSJ ecu we run 3.0 bar as that simply iss easier to map with the 60lb injector range and a bit easier on the fuel pump with the added boost pressure...

Ripping them off this may be quicker:

But if would help if you could measure them up exactly, in case someone will try to replicate them.

Keep in mind that exmantaa added an additional washer on mine.

Those alloy blocks are required for the grey plastic injector insulators and not sure if you could also use/modify them for the small offset required for the Bosch EV14's. (without insulators)

From memory only a few mm spacing is needed and a washer did the job for us.
