I love mine
Defender 90. Real addiction going on with it. Had great fun in the snow we had a few weeks ago - so capable when it gets tough.

We've got a D3 as a family car. It's a love hate relationship. She loves it, I hate paying for it to be fixed.
It is a great car though. Annoyingly.

My latest 110, or rather 'one-ten'.
Its a very early one-ten, with a 200tdi running gear.
Few niggles, but really loving it so far.
Mazda RX8 front seats taken from my old 90 (along with wheels, winch & front bumper), and lovely new Exmoor trim seats in the rear.

I know Dave (kipper) uses his to trailor the VX around.

They have all the comedy quirks of a VX really... crap heaters, cramped driving space, leaks, inside of the screen freezes etc but they are so so soooo fun.
Had lots of good times doing the Puma 2,4 VGT swap into it when that first launched, prior to it being pussied down to a 2.2FGT. That said, we had to peg the 2.4 VGT down to 122ps otherwise the TX box and diffs would die

Im contemplating an upgrade to the x-trail and looking at either a D3 or a Toaureg. Reliability concerns are steering me away from the D3. Are they really that bad? We've got a D3 as a family car. They can be, yes. They can run reliably for years, but when they do go wrong it costs a fortune. Issues with torque converters, gearboxes, air suspension, oil pumps on the engine. They are getting to an age where they need stuff doing to them.
Ours has just suffered from a fuel issue where it cut out on a motorway sliproad. It required the tank to be dropped and the low pressure pump to be swapped out.
It's stupid things that become annoying such as erroneous fault codes that point to something, but are actually caused by something totally different.
If you are going to get one, buy the best spec you can (HSE) ideally and ensure it's got a comprehensive history.

Speaking of reliability, this was the transfer box on my old 90, not entirely sure what happened inside but it cannot of been good!!!
All sorts of horrible noises when it broke..
