Its taken Lotus 15 years but after a lot of hassling via people (a lot on the Exige site) they have a solution to the rocking effect of the seats on old runners.

New runners doesnt fix the problem but this supposedly might.

The runners are the same in the Exige as the Vx so should be worth a look.

The part number is as follows A142V0001K

The part number is listed in the service parts list for the 2-Eleven (section 13.01 item 8)

http://vsic.lotuscar...127T0325D_1.pdf

I have a picture showing the fitting method but cant attach pictures here now.

A long weird spring. If you can post pictures email me and I'll send the picture of how it looks and how to fit.

Some years ago on the German forum you could buy slightly bigger bearing balls for the sliders to cure the seat rocking.

Was also a bit trial and error how many balls was enough, but not too much to make the sliders stuck...

Very curious to how the seat sliding is with this hammer/wedge solution...

The guy who chased and chased over this actually got through to the guy who runs Lotus. Hes very hacked off and sceptical and having it fitted soon and will be reporting back and its movement and cure ability.

I'll see what he says.

It is amazing that its taken 15 years and tats the best they can do. The new Exige/Evora 430's etc have a totally new design of seat runners apparently.

I know someone with an S3 Exige LF1 That has just had his driver's seat runner replaced under warranty because it was worn and rocking. So new Exiges suffer the same issues.

Many Exige owners have had the runners replaced and they just go bad not much time later, but, a few have now had the new fix and report that it works weel so far and makes the whole car feel better. They apparently cost £36 including vat.

I "sorted" mine in 2008/9ish by removing the bearings completely and replacing with Nylon/PTFE strips. Rocking went away and they were (Sort of) adjustable still.

The issue is that the steel for the runners is softer than the bearings, and over time the bearings just press into it and rock

Seriously Lotus now stock these under part A142V0001K (Tensioner, seat runner), cost £36.

Its a simple thing, but having had a wobbly seat for 14 years on my vx well worth getting. All who've had it fitted on the Exige forum say how much

more solid there car feels after and apparently a simple job.

Mine arrived today already, I just had a quick look and can't see what to do with them. Do you need to take the seat out to fit them.. Where in he runner should they go.?
Had a quick Google but no joy.
Cheers
