No I'm referring to a VX at about 11k and a SC2 conversion for about 7k.

stage 2 SC conversion should be well under £5k, obviously depending on the parts spec (new or used USA parts), but including the OBD ecu software

A base stage 2 can be done for less than £4k including the OBD, base stage 2 uses a rear mounted chargecooler system. Ideal for road use and an occasional track day.

Surely skip the tuning side of things and get a mint VXR220? Unless you're looking for something to get your own hands dirty on?

But before you buy any vx220 have a drive in one, they are not for everybody and certainly you will have a love / hate relationship with it

if you modders actually dare add up what you have actually spent. In many cases it's much much more!

AKA 'Relationship Disruption Thread'.. I think most would rather hand over their porn collection than admit how much they'd spent!

Back the car stuff, a mint NA with either a properly done SC conversion or an Astra VXR engine (A20NFT), both sub-300bhp, then spend a good amount on refurbishment of suspension and brakes to as new, including some quality dampers and ARB's, some nice lightweight wheels (Lotus spec).

Perhaps a restauration object...

Some time ago "no one" wanted the S1...

But the prices for the S1 exige are really mad now. I wonder if there are people who pay that.

The really expensive exiges seem to stay on pistonheads for ages.

I found it extremely difficult to price my VX as there are only a few with a similar spec and they arent for sale,. Cars that are close have evolved over time and people have invested too much time and money to sell. I could tell that Richard who built it with Vocky & Lee had spent a huge amount of time and money on it and I had to somehow put a price on it that I was comfortable with. Which was done on its power to weight, quality of engine build and components. What else on 2 wheels could I get that would perform like that for 20k. That said I did pay alot in comparison to other VXs and I'll end up spending another couple of grand getting out on the track, brakes, brake ducts, geometry, exhaust, harnesses etc. But as said above they aren't to everyone's taste, the ride is very hard, it rattles and squeaks, there's no power steering, no aircon, crap stereo, its really noisy, but it does put a huge smile on my face. Slightly off topic but yes the S1a on the whole have hung around indicating that those examples may be a bit optimistic. Its certaunly dragged out some lower mileage cars too. If you believe the prices for 2-11s and 340s then...🤔

Last actual sale of an S1 was eyewateringly lower than all the owners think they are worth. Crazy little none bubble that's popped up now everyone is stuck with them! I'm sworn to secrecy as the purchaser told me in confidence but it would crush a good few egos on Exiges.com if they knew the true market value of the cars.

See there's a few super low mileage S1 Exige's sitting around ~£50k!

Saying that there is a low mileage Sagaris on Pistonheads for £100k..

Have these cars really doubled / trebled in price in the last 10 years?

I'll sell you mine for 25K. Its a good'un, never raced or rallied. Lots of owners who were probably quite careful. Its not silver.

I'll drive it over this weekend if you like?

Hello good people! If you had 25k to spend on a VX220, how would you spend it? I'm not looking for a track car but rather a quick and agile road car. Oh, and the car must be included in the price. Would you go with an NA or a VXT? And what modifications would you do?

You could have mine for that 2.4l 1900 harrop super charged   rallly

Yes, people keep saying that and still I can't find a company on the Interwebs who do it for less than 6000. And since I'm as handy as a seal on dry land I can't do it my self. And I'm not buying at the moment, was just curious about different options.

To be fair Jon theres a lot of Lotus variants that are asking crazy money...this has extended to VXs as well to a point.

Not so sure about VXs it would be like me sticking a VXR up for 50k it would never sell. There's the odd comedy one that comes up like the 70k 240R but some of the cars are pulling genuine good money. We did a nice S160 for 25k last year, we have sold a VXR for 25k this year and did numerous ones topping out at just shy of 30k through last year. S2 Exiges can still pull 35k plus for the right car too.

I have heard of a trade guy that paid 52k for one that's he's been desperately trying to get out of ever since. There's a heavy heavy loss coming on that when it goes over 10k I reckon which has to hurt.

The thing I dont get with S1 Exiges is that a lot of people paid 16k for them a few years back and thing getting a sale at 30 to 40k is somehow now a bad result just because of 3-4 speculatively priced cars that have never sold. I have leads on a couple that I'm hoping will come off this year and I will be retailing around 40k for very low mileage cars.
