I’m offering my supercharged VX220 for sale.

2002 VX220 Limited Edition Lighting Yellow #44, 2.2 litre. Pretty much omnipresent at Octane track days for years now.

The car is on 02 Dublin plates. The significance of the Irish plate is that the (whopping great pile) of Vehicle Registration Tax was paid on this car as it was originally a UK register car when new. This means that if the car is exported back to the UK that a VRT rebate can be applied for.

Conversely, if your based on these shores you'll be glad it's paid as you can drive it one the road.

30k Miles on the clock.

Extensive main dealer service history. Irish main dealer / specialist service history with a full record of maintenance undertaken by Pat McBennett.

All manuals and spare keys and FOB.

Previously long-term owned by a friend, who fastidiously (an understatement) maintained the car during his many years of ownership. Every single euro spent on the car is documented and invoiced.

Spec-wise above stock :

M62 Stage 2 supercharger conversion (all new parts) by Jon Seal, Sportscars. https://www.jonseals....r-conversions/

The car is running the Dutch ECU. This means you can play around with the map by yourself if you add or remove modifications. So, no need to pay for mapping. The licence for the software will be included in the sale. Details on the ECU can be found here: http://www.obdtuner.com/

New Chris Tullet exhaust system for the supercharger conversion comprising 2.5’’ manifold, downpipe and repackable silencer. http://store.christu....cts-vx220.html

I haven’t dyno’d the car, but it must be putting out 250bhp at the moment. Plenty of sub-two-minute laps around mondello park.

Though the car has only been used on track days in the past number of years (probably six a year), it is most definitely not butchered or poorly treated. You will notice that the centre console has been removed to facilitate the wider bucket seats.

It's serviced to within an inch of it's life by McBennett Motorsport, a Lotus specialist who (luckily for me) lives two miles away from me.

Original factory hardtop, plus and additional mathcing colour lightweight hardtop (with no roof liner) sourced from Lotus Hardtops.
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2’s.
K&N induction kit.
Gaz Pro Gold Coilovers
Uprated Toe Links
MMG Rear diffuser
Rear spoiler.
Bucket seats.
Harness bar.
Sparco harnesses (fie-point dirvers harness, four point passenger.
ABS system from an Elise S2.

Still has the original mats which are perfect.

Also, the boot carpet is perfect.

Very recent new rear Toyo 888r's fitted, fronts are in great shape.

All of the stock items are boxed-up if anyone wishes to return this car to road use, including the seats (in superb condition), steering wheel, OEM wheels, centre console, rear bulkhead trim. Nothing is missing.

The condition of the car is excellent. Naturally, there is stone chipping on the front at the bottom from driving up people’s arses on track.

I would point out that there are two spots around the arches on the rear clam that get a pounding on track that will need attention if you want it mint for road use. These are shown covered with matching colour gaffer tape in the pictures. They are each about 25mm in size.

Regarding the pricing, I have looked-up some supercharged VX220’s in the UK, all of which have at least double the mileage, are priced in sterling, don’t have the track set-up, and obviously none have this extent of verifiable provenance in Ireland. The asking price is €19,950 if you are in Ireland, £14,950 if you are in the UK.

Note: in order to get the tax rebate I have to put the car through a NCT test over here. This is like the MOT and it's just a way of squeezing money out of people as if you're exporting it why would you need an Irish MOT? I''d have to refit the original exhaust a Cat and put a NCT map on it to keep the emissions within limits.

Car is also advertised on Pistonheads.

I'm located 30 minutes from Dublin Airport and can obviously pick up and drop off anyone who is interested in viewing from the UK.

If you have any questions or are interested, drop me a PM. Thanks.

I can vouch for this car, it's condition was amazing whenever I saw it and the owner was a fountain of knowledge on all things VX. McBennett Motorsport mightn't be well known in the UK but have been maintaining Lotus products for many years in Ireland including my old VX. I'm pretty sure this car also has the steering rack adjusted to reduce bump steer and other suspension mods too.

The NCT test thing is an Irish (republic) interpretation of the same Euro legislation behind the MOT test. It is generally a more stringent test than MOT as the testing is done in a standardised central facility that only does this type of testing and nothing else - good for quality control, but with less "flexibility" for your typical MOT garage to apply. Also, the test centres don't fix any problems they find, so it can be tricky to get a car through, particularly and older or more specialised car.

This will be a great buy for someone - if I was in a position to get back into a VX, I'd be all over this car.

@Rich, if you are looking at a sale into the UK, I'm happy to talk you & any potential buyer through the process I had with mine, it's all very straightforward, mainly just paperwork on the Irish side before it goes on the ferry.

Thanks a million for the response @Bootdog. I did export an R56 Mini JCW a few years ago to Northern Ireland which wasn’t too bad. But I will contact you about your experience anyway. PM me your mobile number.

Yes, you’re right. Pat McBennett fitted the anti bump steer kit for Aidan (the previous owner), forgot about that.

I should have corrected this statement:

'I have looked-up some supercharged VX220’s in the UK, all of which have at least double the mileage...'

The notable exception being the very nice red one in thread prior to this one (which actually prompted me to post here).

I also should have included that the OEM wheels have just had a brand new set of Hankook Ventus V12 tyres fitted all around. They haven't seen the road yet.

Bump on this.

I can look at removing the supercharger conversion if that would suit a buyer. Obviously that’d reduce the asking price as well.

Drop me a pm if that would be of interest.

Thanks!
