First Track Day - Fuel, Temperatures And Tips

I know alot of you are going to the national and I'm gutted I'm not going but I am going to Donny on Monday for the 1st time in my new toy after getting it ready for months.
I have a mx5 turbo which I've used for the last 7 years or so and usually do about 15-20mins on and 20mins off through out the day as long as there is no red flags and the car is behaving itself.
I usually get through a full tank of juice, plus 3 x 20l Jerry cans.
Will I be looking at similar juice or much more? (SC Harrop, 420-430hp).
Also my car runs 89-90 degrees, what is a safe temp on track? When do I come in early? What is a danger temp?
I was going to disconnect my abs, front left & rear right to avoid the ice mode, is there any other risks I may have doing this.
What type of cold pressures do u run using 888s?

Disconnect ABS
Don't have sh1tty brake fluid
Don't have sh1tty toe links
Do have a gearbox breather
A 400bhp+ SC...you are going to have a lot of fun with the driveby db limits !
Fuel is available on site at Donington. Its an unmanned pump so take your credit card.
I would think you are probably going to get about 5mpg at that power!
888s dont have a particularly stiff sidewall, I used to try get them at 30psi hot pressures and that worked ok. So maybe start at 25 and bleed air as necessary.

Yeh I've fitted spitfire toelinks, new race fluid, braided hoses and pagid RS29s & 42s.
So did to go, I'll do some googling tomoz about the gearbox breather, there is a breather pipe sticking out of the rear tray, online with rear wheels on o/s, so this might be one fitted already.

The breather pipe near the undertray is probably the engine breather. SC cars can smell quite a lot from the breather so people tend to put it as far away from the cabin as poss. If its got a gearbox breather the pipe should terminate high not low

I got the high temperature racing fluid from Jonathan at performance racing sell, which is where I got my pads.
I also did the hub carrier bolts, which I got off Gaz at spitfire.

My harrop ran at steady 86-88 on track, rose quickly as you soon as you come in the pits though so i fitted a fan over ride switch and put it on towards the end of the slow down lap.
The 888's have tiny triangular markers on the side wall, you should see the top of the triangle just getting scrubbed, so adjust pressure to suit

Thanks for info on tyres. So I presume if the triangle isn't scrubbed, the pressures too high and I need to drop it.

Had my first track day on Monday at Donnington and the day went good and bad.
The good, I didn't crash, what a result.
It pinged a P1271 fault on first run, which was rectified by spraying the throttle peddle connector.
My car is still fookin loud, a real drowny loud if that makes sense? I was chatting with the lads from circuit days and they advised to put my tips on early days and short shift in the main straight about 1500 before I normally change, so not to be noticed.
I did this and it was fine and then went to marshals about 4pm to ask for readings and nailed it down the main straight. As predicted I got black flagged with a 102dB drive by (its 98dB drive by limit) and that was with my tips, oops!
Anyway, also about 11am someone , (who was sharing my garage) noticed oil.
Upon investigation, it was my my inner n/s cv boot and my gearbox breather, I didn't get chance to do this before the track day but eventually managed to get a pipe on it on track. The CV bit I didn't know about.
At last this leak, explained why I span off at Melbourne hairpin, lots of oil on my n/s wheel...........
The cars water temp all day was good 89-91 pulling into the pits it had risen to 93, so all good and definately will get a rad override switch!
The car definately will take a long time to get used to as I've been so used to driving the spasda for 10 years, it's hard to get used to another car.
I found it quite understeery and heavy steering (205 fronts) at low speeds at Melbourne hairpin and Goddards. Then it felt a bit skitty (sorry for the description) slidy at the rear at Redgate. I have lots to learn.
The car also chucks out loads of dirt onto the dash via the vents, I take it, this is normal?
Oh yeh the other issue I had was that the water inj pump stayed running all the time, even with ignition off. I had to take the right hand ear off, pull the fuse and it stopped, until I went on another run. I'm not sure if anyone else has had same issues? Is it the relay locking on when it gets hot? Shouldn't this be ignition live anyway?
Also I trimmed the black plastic part of the rear mud type guards before I went as the new wider wheels where rubbing, this involved removing the top screw and using a glue gun to Re attach, but this came off twice, so I'm up for suggestions?
Also on my last run my cat bypass muffler came apart, the rivets had shaped, prob as they are only week aluminium. So will have to try and fit self tappers or small bolts and nuts.
Oil consumption wasn't bad, maybe a ltr for the day.
Brakes where very good.
So probs I had:-
P1271 code, which was bad connector on acceleration peddle.
CV boot split
Gearbox oil breather
Black plastic trim popping off by rear wheel.
Exhaust came apart and before this, loud, loud, loud.
Hopefully all these will be niggly faults. You can never predict how a car will run on track as you can never replicate on the road how they will run in track. As they never see the temps that they run at on track.

Yeh someone did mention the gearbox breather but I just ran out of time, as it took me hours to drill 1 tiny hole in my exhaust tip, so that I could use a self tapper to keep it on. Drilling SS at an angle when the steel has been through numerous heat cycles was hard to say the least.
I had the heat vents open on the dash to disapate as much heat out of the engine as poss.

What filter / airbox setup do you have? That contributes a lot to driveby noise.
