I'm thinking of bunging up a new aerial. The existing one is fine but the socket is in the wrong place. I could re-cable it but thought I may as well do the lot. Does anyone know anything about aerials? Is bigger better? I just want to get all the digital channels so would rather get something good.

Thanks.

It's about gain ( usually directional) and not size, assuming you mean a normal Yagi antenna, but same applies to dishes of course. Yagi: more elements more gain, more directional. The more directional, the more precise with alignment, you can get meters to measure the signal strength at the antenna so you don't have to keep looking at the TV as you twiddle with the aerial

Do signal boosters make any difference on a single TV system? Not looking to split it out to multiple units, just looking to ensure reception to batmum channel.

What stops the noise being amplified along with the signal?

I got an Ariel in my loft. It works pretty good considering it’s inside and not tied to the roof. It’s wired all the way to a junction box in the stinky bin cupboard. Then it splits off to every room. But not the shitters. For some reason. I’m working on that.
