Thought I would say an official hello after posting a lot of help posts since I brought the car in April.

I brought the VX as an upgrade for my E36 track car which had lasted me well (2 years, 20+ track days and was also my daily) It’s been a blast owning a vx and I reckon I picked the right year to buy a convertible!

But I must say it's the most unreliable car I have owned (that's saying something as I also have an rx7) In 3 months I have needed to replace the ABS ECU, the regulator on the alternator and the fuel pump. Along with the other essentials Spitfire rear arms, HCB’s, Gaz Coilovers, Gearbox breather mod, TAT diffuser and vented Hardtop

I just need new pads all round then its track time and hopefully I can get to a few meetings later this year/next!

A lot of that sounds like upgrades, not reliability issues! These cars need attention though, there's always something that needs fiddling with.

Fuel pump is working harder now that it's SC'd, alternator will just be old.

Part of the fun of these cars is the working on them (or at least that's what I tell myself.....).

Welcome. You’ll be wanting to get some different wheels and tyres for track days :)

Plus you'll want to do a suspension refresh (who doesn't), light weight header tank bracket, subframe shims, subframe re-plate, steering wheel re-trim and seat change/retrim.

Don’t forget the corroded brake hoses hidden in the sill, loom of doom, failed relays, osmosis... plenty to do yet!

Don't get me wrong it's a great car just didn't expect three things to fail within 3 months especially since the alternator was new in 2016.

What's he recommendation on tyres r888 etc or full slicks? Are slicks ok or more likely to cause issues with cracking?

I don't think anyone runs full slicks due to the excess strain they put on everything.

R888R or Avons seem popular.

fuel pumps are getting old these days, most NA cars are now at least 15 years old and some are 18 yrs
